does it cut off when rpm's on car is up, or just at idle, try turning it up and holding rpm's to 3500. I added a cap to my setup just to monitor voltage drop. also, what subs are you running, make sure load is not under 1.5 ohms, use a multimeter for checking both dc voltage and ohms. make sure power is off too subs when checking ohms.

Y is my jl 1000.1/v2 amp keeps saying low volt blue light i got new alternator 2 batteries im start to hate this amp can anyone help

Make sure you are using a ofc wire set up with atleast 4 gauge. And make sure you are using a 4g copper wire from your alternator to your positive battery. This is a power hungry amp and if you do not feed it right it will not turn on or gonout when the bass hits. Do not use cheap cca wire from wal mart or ebay, only buy ofc wire. Make sure your ground is at the back seat belt bolt and sand it down, and make sure you upgrade the alternator to battery wire and battery grounds to the engine and car frame. The blue light means its not getting the propper power supply

1989 honda civic runs but when you turn lights on car stalls out. Have checked alternator, fuses.

CHECK ALTERNATOR DRIVE BELT TENSION.MAKE SURE IT NOT TOO LOOSE.AND CHECK YOUR IDLE SPEED.IT SHOULD BE 700 - 800 RPM.IF IDLE SPEED TOO LOW ALTERNATOR WONT TURN FAST ENOUGH.BUT CHECK ALTERNATOR OUT PUT AT BATTERY.IT SHOULD BE 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS.IF NOT PROBLEM IN ALTERNATOR.CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND ITS BATTERY FEED WIRE AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR WIRES.

Have 1987 Volvo wagon, changed out the bulbs in the back brake light, then battery keeps going dead (have new battery and alt.) No problem before putting in new brake bulbs. Alt output was 30amps (should...

sounds like the trunk light switch may have gotten knocked loose .. that would leave the trunk light on all the time and would run the battery down in a few days even if fully charged to start with .. you can take out the trunk light to test that theory .. the alternator will only put out what is needed and thats probably 30 amps with everything on .. to test its maximum capacity you need to hook up an external load and you have to run the engine at a specified RPM ... for a quick test.. if your alternator maintains about 13.2 volts at idle with everything turned on .. then its gererally working ok ..
