How do you fix an MA error when attempting to graph a function? I have even tried to graph simple functions like (X) or (5) and it still says MA error.

A. This is due to a mathematical error such as

  1. dividing by 0,
  2. an illogical operation,
  3. calculations outside the range of a function,
  4. using the exponential function with the [^] key,
  5. logarithm of a negative number,
  6. calculating the factorial of numbers larger that 69,
  7. what have you.
  8. Check the expression of the function you are trying to graph.

What is wrong with my calculator? invNorm Error:Domain

DOMAIN ERROR:

- You specified an argument to a function or
instruction outside the valid range. This error is
not returned during graphing. The TI-84 Plus
allows for undefined values on a graph.

regression with a LX or an exponential or power
regression with a LY.

- You attempted to compute GPrn( or GInt( with
pmt2 < pmt1.

Graphing calculator argument error

The function you give as example in the additional information to your duplicate post is too simple to generate an Argument error. Maybe a syntax error but not an argument error.
Check what you enter on the line that defines the function. Do not confuse the minus sign - (for subtraction) and the change sign (negation sign) marked (-).
You can also reset your calculator by pressing the button on the back.

Everytime I attempt to graph something. The thing says Error: Invalid DIM. How do I fix this?

You're probably trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.

I cannot graph with my TI. When I try to graph even a simple graph like y=x and have a standard window I get the error screen writing: ERR:INVALID DIM What should I do to solve it?

You're probably trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features while the calculator is expecting them. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.

I am getting ERR:ARCHIVE 1:QUITE when I try to

I tried all possible situations where one would get an error ERR: ARCHIVED 1:QUIT 2:GOTO in relation to graphing, and I was unable to do so. Thus I cannot explain your error (in relation to graphing). I conclude that the error is unrelated to the graph.

As a general rule, one you get message ... 1:Quit, 2:GOTO press 2 and you will be shown the location where the offending symbol is.

Anyway, to graph functions, always deactivate the statistical plots
  1. Press [2nd][Y=] to access (STATPLOT) then press [4:PlotsOff]
  2. Command PlostOff echoes on main screen.
  3. Press [ENTER], calculator answers Done.
  4. Open the [Y=] editor to enter your function and
  5. Press [GRAPH].
  6. If you do not see any graph,
  • press [ZOOM][6:ZStandard] or
  • adjust the window dimensions by
  • pressing [Zoom] and
  • setting the Xmin,Xmax,Ymin,Ymax values
  • making sure that Xmin is less than Xmax, and Ymin is less than Ymax.

Functions don't work

The presence of the Fat arrows to the left of the Y1, Y2,etc = functions means that the Transfrm application is running. It takes over the graphing from the native OS.
You must uninstall it.
  1. Press [APPS] and scroll up to go to the bottom of the list of Applications.
  2. Highlight [ : Transfm] and press [ENTER]
  3. In the new screen with the heading "Transfm App" press the number that corresponds to uninstalling the Apps [1:Uninstall]
  4. Try to graph two simple functions Y1=X and Y2=2X.
  5. If these functions are graphed correctly you are back in business, if not turn Stats Plots off.
To turn Stat plots Off
Press [2nd][Y=] (Stat Plot)
Press [4:PlotsOff]
Press [ENTER]

If all else fails, Reset the Ram
Press [2nd][+] (MEM)
Press [7:Reset]
Press [1:All Ram]
Press [2:Reset]
Press [ENTER]
Press [CLEAR] to erase the "Ram Cleared" Message.

How do I set it to factory default settings? When I want to graph or want to do a zoom fit I get a ERR:SYNTAX 1:quit

Seems unlikely that you get a syntax error for both graphing and Zooming. Probably the error is in the function you are trying to graph.

To reset the RAM,
Press [2nd]MEM][7:Reset][1:All Ram][2:Reset] [ENTER]
Calculator answers with Ram Cleared.
Press [CLEAR] button to erase the above message.

Once Ram is cleared, open the [Y=] function editor and at the Y1= line, enter [X,T, theta, n] key or [ALPHA][X], to draw the simple function Y1=X.
If that works, that means your calculator is OK.
