Nintendo ds lite, green light on but not the screens

Yeah, I have one that does exactly that, you press the power on, the light comes one but nothing happens on the screens although the power light stays on. The only thing that does seem a bit strange with the one I have is that the touch screen cable isn't in the clip (and it keeps coming out even after I've put it back), I don't know whether this is related to this fault or not though.

My ds lite wont turn on the green light on the power led stays on, the strange thing is that whenever I charge it up, it only charges for ten minutes.

HI I have the same problem with my ds. the lite comes on to green. however the screens and sound remain blank. Does anyone have a fix or is it dead? thanks

  • jld3 Apr 18, 2008

Power light will come on...the screens light up white & then go blank. No sound either. The green led light flashes until turned off. Nothing is happening. Just got this system last week. Very frustrated.

My sons Ds lite will have the green light on, no sounds, and both screens black. Is there a reset or a fix?

  • Anonymous Nov 06, 2008

Hi, I replaced bottom screen and touch screen in my daughters ds and now when i turn it on for about 3 seconds then turn off, most times the screens don't light up, but the green light just keeps flashing

I had the Same problem on my wifes DS.  First problem was that it kept swithing itself off, so sent it to Nintendo for repair.  Within a week it was broken again.

This time the green light was coming on, but no sound and no sign of life in the screens.

Well, I'd already had to pay nintendo for the first fix (different region, no warranty, apparrently).  So I thought seeing as it's out of warranty anyway, why not open it up and have a look.

To open it you need specailist tools, I don't recommend it if you've never done anything like it before.

Anyways, the bios chip was no longer connected to the main PCB.  I simply plugged it back in and added some slips of post it note to stop it coming off again.

You can see in the picture, the chip easily plugs back onto that white clip on the board.

Once it was back on. the DS has been working fine.

hey, you mentioned "see picture". What picture? I think my nintendo has the same problem and I would like to try this option but has no idea what Bios Chip look like?! LOL!

If the ribbon cable for the touch screen isn't connected the DS will not work at all. This clip is often messed up after someone opens the DS. You never never never want to remove the touch screen ribbon cable unless there is no other choice.

When the DS comes on , the screen flashes and then it goes off, usually means the top screen is faulty and/or one of the onboard fuses has blown. You may need to have these replaced.

SOURCE: nintendo ds lite repair

i had the same problem, the light would come on and for a split second you'd see a blue screen on the bottom and then it poweres down again. its because the thin ribbion cable is not plugged in all the way. On the white connector where the ribbon plugs in , there is a little black door that clamps down on the cable keeping it inplace. make sure youve clamped it down or it will fall out. I thought i had it plugged in well there too ,but when i powered it up i had your problem so i opened it up and found that the ribbon wasnt in all the way, and then it would power up, but my touch screen was unreponsive. i think i chiped something on the mother board. hope that helps

It's not likely to be battery, but fracture in ribbon cable to top screen causing this. Both screens must be connected or you get the symptom you've explained.

Top LCD's flex cable that passes through right-hand hinge into bottom part of case will be damaged or not properly seated in its connector socket.

Contact Nintendo about product warrenty. If it is still under warrenty, I highly suggest you send it to them for them to repair. If the warrenty has expired, you can contact Nintendo to check for replacement parts or to find out their policies on equipment repairs.

SOURCE: nintendo DS lite power light comes on but both screens stay dark?

When you boot the Nintendo DS you can change the illumination settings in the main menu.
One the main menu, you will find a sunny symbol in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on that and you should be able to change the level of illumination. If you are also wondering if you can change the brightness during game play, you can't. Games such as Mario 64 DS come with support for brightness change but otherwise you have to do it before game play.

Nintendo DS Lite, Dim Green Light, Brigher Green Light then off

Hi,

If the green light reacts as you state then the chances are the fuses are fine.

Again, with the reaction of the green light being as you stated i'm going to assume you have a problem with one of your screens, tell me... when the green light comes on does one of the screens flash? If it does then we have found the answer...

The screen that doesnt flash is the one with the problem, you can try taking the DS lite apart and re-connecting the screens ribon to see if that sorts it, if it doesnt then im afraid you will have to buy a new screen. These can befound on ebay for a reasonable price.

I have written some guides on how to change your screens and how to disassemble the DS lite, these will guide youthrough the processes you need to take. These can be found by clicking on my name and then scrolling down to "tips and tricks", press the "view all" to see all of them and find what you need.

I hope this helps.
