You "release the shutter" by pressing the shutter release button, often called the shutter button. That's the button you press to take a picture :-)

The camera may or may not return to normal after that. If it doesn't, remove the battery, then put it back in and turn the camera on again. Try removing and reattaching the lens (with the power off). If the problem persists, have a certified Nikon tech look at it.

D90 won't work. Blinking Clock in top LCD panel.

First, turn the camera off and then remove and reinstall the battery. Turn the camera back on. If the clock and battery icons still appear, try resetting the clock. If this doesn't work, contact Nikon technical support at www.nikon.com and see what they have to say. It may require a repair but determine if the camera is still under warranty. If so, Nikon may repair it at no charge.

Memory Card Indicator always blinks

Since a couple of months, my "out of warranty" D90 is having a problem.

Even after shutting down the unit , sometimes (post of the time) the green led is blinking (at random speed) untill the battery is 100% down (after half a day).
Switching memory card , or formatting memory card does not help.
Even without lens , problem occurs.
I tried also a other battery pack , same problem...

Anyone has an possible reason why this happens , or a 100% working solution.

PS: D90, battery packs and charger are 100% genuine NIKON.
Regards, Rik

When i view photos on the lcd screen. The photo with the bright parts will turn black and white, like blinking.

You're seeing blown-out highlights. Those are the portions of your photo that have been overexposed and lost all detail, going pure white. This is a warning, since the camera doesn't know whether you're going for this effect. Blown-out highlights are generally considered a bad thing, and the proper fix is to reduce exposure to bring back the details. This risks losing details in the dark shadows but this isn't considered as bad, since we don't expect to see things in the dark.

That was the long answer. The short answer is to press up/down on the multiselector to cycle through the different views of your photo.

Problems shooting with Nikon D90

The r in the display is not an error. The number after the r simply tells you how many more shots the buffer can hold before it fills up.

If you're set for AF-S, the shutter will not release until focus is achieved. You can switch to AF-C or else focus manually.

We just bought d90 nikon camera and we found a small half-round shadow at the bottom of the pictures taken when we dont use the zoom lens, how do we correct this?

Are these pictures taken using the built-in flash and with the hood on the lens? If so, you're seeing the shadow of the lens hood.

Remove the lens hood when using the built-in flash.

During using D90 for son's b-day my camera kept freezing up and giving a code of r05 and another code once that I don't remember. Why and what does r05 mean? I even turned the camera off at times but it...

The r05 is not an error. It's simply telling you that the buffer has room for five more pics. It's only a problem when it gets to 0 and stays there.

As to the other error, I'm afraid I can't help you there.
