My LG Microwave (LRM1250W) does not heat all of a sudden
My LG Microwave (LRM1250W) is about 4 years old and has just quit working (heating). The buttons, settings, timer, etc work, and when you hit start or the quick 30 second mode, it sounds like it is working but actually doesn't heat up anything. This all just happened out of the blue. What is the issue or what should I check for??

I have had the LG model lrm1260sw microwave for 3 years. Recently it quit heating. I found the problem was the soldered grounding lug connection on the power transformer had lost circuit continuity and failed. One of the secondary coils on the power transformer, red wire / bare copper wire, is connected to ground / chassis. I cleaned the lug connection and added a length of wire twisted together with the bare copper coil wire and soldered to the grounding lug. I then grounded the extra added length of wire to another chassis ground point. Make sure the transformer to chassis mounting screws are tight also. Now the microwave oven works like new again.
Classic symptoms for failed door interlock safety switches, though it could be other trouble.
Remove the cover and check the operation of the little micro switches that operate when you close the door.
DONT TOUCH THE SILVER CAN - LETHAL.
If you regularly open the door while cooking, the contacts in these little switches become burned. When burned badly enough, they cannot make contact. When they cannot make contact, the mocrowave doesnt know the door is closed and will not turn on the magnatron resulting in no heat.
HI. in most cases, this will lead to a failed Heating device(magnetron tube). It would be wise to check the Magnetron cutoff fuse to be sure of its integrity. if the fuse is blown, simply replace it. if the fuse continues to show continuity, replace the magnetron.
(((The fuse is located inside the unit along side the magnetron)))
just aquired one just like it for free. they said no heat. took the outer cover off. about 12 screws. pull the main fuse and test it with a continuity tester.thats probably not it if the lights work. its either the magnatron (toshiba 2m248j(gs) or replacement part amana 8205460. mine was a coroded magnatron connection.unplugged it and pluged it back in. heats fine now. if you left it on with nothing in it for any length of time you blew the magnetron. universal magnatron replacements on ebay are $25. 4 screws and a 2 prong connector.
