When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out. You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results. If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component. When the temperature is consistent but too high or too low, it could be one of several different things. First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly. If the thermostat bulb is not dislodged, it's likely that the thermostat or sensor is either mis-calibrated or defective. Electronic ovens with a digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. On some digital-display models, you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. See your operator's manual for details. Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat. If, when you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat to solve the problem.-----

I have chef EGC651S oven with separate grill. On fan assist oven only heats up to a certaain temp and doesnt get any hotter what could be the reason for this

Probably thermostat problem, although some chance you have one side of a 220vac breaker not working. In otherwords oven heating element is "getting" half of the required power. Call electrician!

Old kenmore built in oven wont unlock

When I turn on my Maytag performa using the "bake" function, everything looks ok on the display, however the temp. never rises above 100. I've tried "bake" and "convect", and neither one work. "Clean" doesn't work either. The oven will lock, and display shows that it's heating up, but temp. never rises.
However....."broil" feature works just fine.
Please help.

The oven wont heat up above 50

HI, this is not a serious issue here. you will need to test the resistance of the oven temp senors. it seems to be defective. also, check the wiring harness from the oven temp sensor to the control. make sure the wiring harness is in good condition. replace the oven temp sensor if found to be defective.

Ignition wont stop while oven is working

Egnition is a push button to a spark generator, If this is electric, the obvious answer would be turn off the electric. This should not affect the gas unless if is temp controled by electric. Usually the temp is set gy a gas regularor controlled with a knob and set before gas is ignited.

Oven wont heat up to temp set

You will need to have the thermostat looked at or replaced, it may be defective and not reading the correct temp, also try using a manual oven thermometer to check the actual temp in the oven to give you a better idea of what the actual temp is inside

Kenmore oven

Is this an electronic control oven...touch pads to set temp? May have a bad ERC. Electronic Range Control. Also check oven sensor. This is steel rod in oven in back wall near top on left or right. Check ohms from the rear where it connects to harness. Disconnect at harness and measure resistance of sensor. Most are around 1.1k.
