I recently purchased a wireless mobile netbook. I already have internet servide but I don't have a wireless modem. How can I hook up to my present internet service. Thanks in advanced. Rebecca

You need to connect your net book via a cable. The cable is called a cat5 cable and looks like a big phone jack connector. It is just like the one that hooks your computer to your wired network. The cable can be hooked to one of the outlets on your wired network. Then your netbook should detect your connection and hook up.

Need to know what i need to connect my prewired home (with cat5 cable running from box in garage to jacks in 4 rooms) to the internet. currently just have cable modem in office.

You would need a 4 - 8 port router... with a wire going to each Jack... and these would plug into the Router ports, The router plugs into the Modem. You have to put the Ethernet plugs on each end of the Cat5 cable. Then you setup your network. But if you have a wireless router you simply need each PC WiFi enabled, IE: A wireless card in each PC, that way you do NOT need Cat5. Then each PC, simply connects to the Router/Modem.

Cat5e jack by leviton has eight slots, but my cat5 cable only has 4 wires in it. I punched the wires down on the back four connectors. As long as I do the same on my ends, this should work right? Please...

Cat5 has eight wires, anything less is for telephone. Your cabe is for telephone if it has 4 wires. Either return the cable and get 8-wire cat5 or go to another store for your cat5 wire.

Wiring on a RCA RJ-45 wall jack

the RJ45 wallplate is not meant for ethernet. It's an 8P8C connector for a phone. Will it work as a network jack? Maybe. I wouldn't use it, but if you really want to try, wire it thusly:

1 Blue --- Orange/White
2 Orange --- Orange
3 Black --- Green/White
4 Red --- Blue
5 Green --- Blue/White
6 Yellow --- Green
7 Brown --- Brown/White
8 White --- Brown

I'd still recommend a CAT5 wallplate with a CAT5 jack.

Avh p5700dvd ..Noisy distorted sound from RCA output

This model of Pioneer has a common problem with a couple of fuses that are inside the unit mounted on the main circuit board that will blow. These are surface mounted fuses, and must be replaced with the same type of fuse. They are very small and white colored and require some good soldering skills and the proper soldering equipment do this job properly.

I work at an authorized Pioneer service center and have seen this problem many times. These units are very difficult to open up and work on. It is very easy to damage the ribbon cable that connects the flip out monitor to the main circuit board if not done perfectly.

What you can do as a work around for a short time, until you can get it in for repair, is this shortcut. It will restore your audio, but should not be considered a permanent fix.

At the amplifier (since it is easier to get at than the RCA cords coming out of the back of the Pioneer) you need to connect a jumper wire from the RCA ground on the jack to the power ground on the amplifier. The outer metal part of the RCA jack is the ground, the metal pin in the middle is the positive.

Remember, this is only a short term temporary work around and is not a permanent repair. You just need to supply the RCA output ground with a good ground.

The repair of replacing the surface mounted fuses can cost anywhere from $100 to $160, depending on the service center rates. Just don't wait too long, or play the amplifier too loud in the meantime.

We're using an Acer 40x max tower, and using a cat5 cable for the internet. The problem is that we can't find the cat5 port on the tower.

Cat5 or ethernet port is a oversized phone jack to put it simply. You may need to purchase this PCI ethernet card and install it of you do not see it installed.
Hope this helped!

  • Black - white/green
  • Red - Blue
  • Green - white/blue
