Xerox 5305 copier excess toner

After making one or two copies, the toner drum becomes covered with excess toner, causing the next copies to be almost black. After cleaning
off the drum, you can get another one or two copies, then same problem.
Have replaced the toner cartridge-no improvement. Have replaced the
drum cartridge-no improvement. Anything I can do to fix this-or should just send to copier heaven???

Sounds like faulty drum cleaning blade, which is usually contained in the replacement drum module.I would be inclined to take the drum unit back where you got it (unless you replaced it with a second-hand one) 99% certain the problem is contained in that module

Just purchased a Zerox XC1255 Copier at an Auction. Replaced the toner cartridge because the light was on. The copies seem to have excessive toner in the background of the copies. I am wondering if I...

Could be a bad drum unit. Is the new toner cartridge a refilled? Remanufactured? or Brand New Xerox brand toner? If it is refilled or remanufactured I would run some copies and give it a chance to clear. Sometimes they end up with too much toner in the Developer mix and can be overtoned which causes a general background over the whole page. They should clear up as you run copies, say within 100 pages. Also try manually lightening the copy with the exposure control on the operation panel. If lightening the copy clears all of the background then you need to have the optics cleaned. There are 4 mirrors under the large original glass that need to be cleaned. If all this fails then you are looking at either drum unit or a defective or out of balance toner/developer cartridge.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

I want to repair J7 in Xerox 5317

If your ERU (drum unit) has made 40.000 copies you can repair it using the repair kit that includes the fuses. If it has reached 80.000 copies then you need to replace the drum.If you can't find either then take out the drum, locate the small pcb at the rear end (next to the gears) and replace the 2 small fuses. This requires a soldering iron and knowhow

Xerox WCP 416 , it showed message replace drum cartridge

It sounds like you are replacing the toner cartidges NOT the Drum Unit. Drum is located behind the toner cartidge and you will see it after removing toner. Pretty common mistake :)

I found it in basement

the 5305 was a portable copier and the paper tray attached to the platen cover (glass cover). It may be there. The device will not work without a paper tray. If it's been in the basement, you may need to make sure there are cartridges in it too before attempting to power it on. If there is not a toner cartridge, the device will not power on.

Black pages when printing

Are the lamps comming on, and on brightly? They may need replaced.
You may also have a bad ground contact to your drum cartridge.
Remove the cartridge and clean the contacts. The ground contact may also be worn out.
Those are the 2 most common problem with black copies on that machine
