First make sure a keyboard "split" option is not set.

Probably you are going to have to clean the key contacts. They are likely conductive rubber "pills" that are pressed onto a circuit board that has interleaved fingers. Clean both the black pills and the circuit board using ONLY 99% isoprophyl alcohol and Q-Tips.

You have to install the MIDI type software in the PC to trigger the sound card's voices. You may also need a driver for the keyboard. Search the Casio site for downloads pertaining to your keyboard.

No display light on my casio ctk 496 every thing else works

Sorry, but many of the low end keyboards do NOT have backlights. This is especially true of those that have the capability of running off batteries like the CTK-496.

The display in this is a reflectance type that needs ambient lighting to view.

Keys 7 and 8 from the bass side are lower than

In Casio Chord mode, the bottom keys up to the second F plays Bass Chords. The Keyboard is just putting the keys you play back into bass when you get up that high. If you read along the plastic edge above where they keys come out of the keyboard, it shows you where the Chord keys end and the Keyboard begins. If you want use of all the Octaves, slide the power switch to the first setting (normal).

My casio 496 cannot connect to fruity loops

Unfortunately your model of Casio only has midi in and not midi out. You will be able to use it as an external sound module but not to input notes into Fruity Loops. In other words midi out of your computer to midi in of the Casio with the proper settings will play your Fruity Loops sequences through the Casio.

7,4,1 keys in keyboard are not working also the DEL key not working

Turn the keyboard off, unplug it, take out the batteries. MAKE SURE YOU DO THIS STEP BEFORE PROCEEDING! Remove the metal plate under the octave you are having trouble with. Get a can of compressed air, and GENTLY use it to blow out the strike pads (the part of the white key that hits the computer board) Reassemble and power it on.
