Everytime i sign in, there's this dialog box that says"there was a problem signing into yahoo", ppleas try again a little bit later". i tried other ym accounts, same thing happens. i try to create a new account, it says"i cant connect to the yahoo server". i can still use my account in signing in to my yahoo mail and others,.. i want the yahoo messenger because there are lots of features i cant use when using yahoo messenger thru yahoo mail beta. i tried changing the connection preference. so as turning off the firewall and downloading, install, uninstall several YM versions but still i cant connect. what could be the problem, if I'm not mistaken, im having this problem for almost 3 months now. im also not sure if it started after i reformatted my laptop.
can anyone help me?

1. Clear your cache memory, by deleting all temporary internet files and cookies2. Check your firewall program3.Check your internet options under tools and go to the privacy tab and check cookies. Make sure the level is low.4. Make sure you may have entered your ID and/or password correct. By entering wrong user id password t you will not be able to sign on again for 12 hours.5. if your not using proxy then check this setting ·Open your Internet Explorer ·Go to Tools > Internet Options then click the Connections tab ·Click the LAN Settings button and a new dialog box will open ·At the new dialog box, look for the Proxy server checkbox, if this is checked, UNCHECK it. ·. Click OK button for the dialog boxes. ·Try logging in to your Yahoo Messenger account now.

7.Yahoo server maybe down just for some seconds. Just have patient and re login and or try logging using another account

If you are having trouble signing in to Yahoo Messenger and you are sure you correctly typed the password then click the "troubleshoot" button on the dialog box that says unable to sign in. It will automatically check your connectivity to internet, ports and other security issue that may be forbidding it to sign in. Clicking the troubleshoot button will automatically solve the problem.

restart your pc and try again........if you are using messenger 9.0 then click on <messenger> before sign in then click on <connections and preferences> and mark there an option <use no proxy> i hope that will be solved. if this does not work then wait for sometime and then retry, this also happens if u shutdown messenger without logging out.
ok, in my case i remembered I tried using a proxy on internet explorer and forgot to put it off, so the proxy connection was still on even though the proxy was dead.
It now a proven fact to me that internet explore settings are linked to yahoo mess! so make sure your internet explorer is working ok without proxy:
1. Open your Internet Explorer
2. Go to Tools > Internet Options then click the Connections tab
3.Click the LAN Settings button and a new dialog box will open
4. At the new dialog box, look for the Proxy server checkbox, if this is checked, uncheck it.
5. Then your done, click OK button for the dialog boxes.
6. Try logging in to your Yahoo Messenger account.
hi u i had (or maybe have) this problem but a solution that i found is : you set a proxy in internet explorer , clear that with this steps: 1. Open your Internet Explorer
2. Go to Tools > Internet Options then click the Connections tab
3.Click the LAN Settings button and a new dialog box will open
4. At the new dialog box, look for the Proxy server checkbox, if this is checked, uncheck it.
5. Then your done, click OK button for the dialog boxes.
6. Try logging in to your Yahoo Messenger account.
and for this time , i solved problem, hope it works for you
It's the same problem but only with a wireless connection, the minute I but in the network cable I can sign in ok. I'm not too far away from modem.
