Mary,

I will show you how to change your start page in several browsers since I'm not sure which browser you're currently on. I hope this helps!

How To Set Your Browser Start Page in IE

  1. Click on your Internet Explorer icon; you'll find this in your Start menu, or the toolbar at the bottom of your desktop window.
  2. Type in "Google" to IE's search box at the top of the browser window (this is just an example, you can use any website that you want).
  3. Arrive at Google search engine home page.
  4. Go to toolbar at the top of browser, and click on "Tools", then "Internet Options".
  5. At the top of the pop-up, you'll see a "Home Page" box. The address of the site that you are currently at (http://www.google.com) is there. Press the "Use Current" button to specify this page as your home page.

How to Set Your Browser Start Page in Firefox
  1. Click on the Firefox icon to start up your browser.
  2. Navigate to the site that you'd like as your Home page.
  3. At the top of your browser window, you'll see the Firefox tool bar (this includes the words "File", "Edit", etc.). Click on Tools, then Options.
  4. The popup window will open up with the default option of General. At the top of the window, you'll see "Home Page Locations." If you're satisfied with the page you're currently at and would like to set it as your Home Page, click on "Use Current Page."
Take care and good luck!

How to customize your start button

First you need a tool called "Resource Hacker". This free program allows you to change resources in any .exe file such as "Explorer.exe", which includes the [Start] button's Label. You can visit Download.com and search there for "Resource Hacker".
After you download it, follow the guide here:
Step 1:
A - Run "Resource Hacker" and open the file "%windir%\Explorer.exe".
B - You see a Tree of all Resources in this file, expand the "String Table"
C - Find the "start" and replace it with your own text. then press the [Compile Script] button.
D - Save "Explorer.exe" as "MyStart.exe" DONT save it as Explorer.exe, do "save as.." and give it a new name.
E - Quit "Resource Hacker".
Step 2:
A - Click on the [Start] button and choose the "Run..." item from the start menu. (Or use the shortcut key WinKey+R)
B - Type "RegEdit" in the Run "Dialog Box". And then press the [Ok] buton to run the "Registry Editor" program.
C - Go to: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" and find the "Shell" property.
D - Replace value of the "Shell" property to "MyStart.exe".
E - Quit "Registry Editor".
F - Restart your system.
Note about Registry Editor:
if you did not find the key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon", you can search the Registry for the "Explorer.exe", to do this use the Edit Menu | Find Next (Ctrl+F).

I have Google Chrome as my default search engine. Overnight it has changed and now comes up as MyStart by Incredibar. I have also lost the page that shows my most used pages. Have Google changed...

MyStart by Incredibar is a browser ******** that will alter Internet browser settings on the infected computer. This threat also drops certain files and registry entries that are essential to complete its tasks.
Typically, MyStart will enter the computer through other programs or freeware that you may download from third-party provider. The adware will get installed without your consent while loading the desired program.

To Remove it Follow the Following Steps.

Click on wrench (upper right hand of page)
Click on "Settings"
Click on "Extensions" (upper left of page)
there will be a list of active extensions. I would suggest deleting it rather than disabling.

Hope It'll work for you.:))

Googlechrome is opening with a different search page. It says Mystart powered by blekko?

LOL, sounds like a virus or infection has changed your homepage. Open Google Chrome then click on the WRENCH in the upper right hand corner at the top of the screen and click on Settings. When the screen opens you want to be on the Basics tab so that you can scroll down in the middle where it says Home Page. Click on Select This Page so that the dot is in the circle and type in the web address of the page you want to come up when you open Google Chrome.

It sounds like you had the Google Search as your home page so simply type http://www.google.com

You might want to download and install MalwareBytes and run a Quick Scan for viruses and infections.

Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "Download cnet Malwarebytes" (without the quotes). Download and install malwarebytes from the sites download.cnet/malwarebytes. When the site opens up click on the Green Download button on the left. Do not click the Red Download button, that's junk. When it finishes installing the Gui Interface will open up with an offer to Accept a Trial Version or Decline. CLICK DECLINE you want the totally free version. Run a QUICK SCAN. As it scans, if it finds infections the number will be in red. When it finishes scanning, click SHOW RESULTS. A notepad text document will open up showing you the results. You can close the text document and go back to the Gui Interface where you will click REMOVE SELECTED RESULTS. The objects will already be selected for you. When it finishes removing the objects click ok and it will sometimes reboot your machine.

I can't open any of the boxes, ie inbox, outbox? I can open my main yahoo email page

I find that IE is outdated now a days and it is far more better to download and install "Google chrome" and use as a primary browser. Chrome has Java, flash and other necessary components pre installed within the browser so no need to install them in your PC,also bowsing and downloading is 10 times faster that IE. You can even play games from the APPs section without installing them in your PC. so give it a try ... Great app.
