Horizontal streaks are usually the toner cartridge or the drum; vertical steaks are usually the thermostat or the fuser.

If you are getting horizontal streaks and changing the toner cartridge out fixes the issue temporarily, I suspect you probably have people taking the blank pages that print out after printing and feeding them back through the printer to save paper. The old paper picks up a charge when fed through the first time, pulls toner up the second like a magnet, and deposits the toner onto the toner drum. When the next sheet comes through, the image itself or a black line of toner can be pulled from the last sheet (or the sheet before) and is transferred over the new image. Change your toner and print several pages to the printer, see if the problem fades and goes away.

If it does, just tell people to either stop feeding the blank pages through, or to at least turn them over and put them at the bottom of the paper stack. This will give it time to dissipate the charge before feeding back through.

A) Black Streaks, Shadows, And Ghosting
Adjust the printer's lightness/darkness setting to 2-3 different variables and see if problem disappears. Look at the fusing assembly - is the roller torn or does it have any black buildup? Use caution!!! It gets HOT!

Try another toner also.

Hello,
if the streaks are narrow and looks as "barcode", you need to replace the drum unit. C-EXV18 Canon Drum unit.

Hi, My Canon 3245 Imagerunner is streaking.

Hello,
First, the streaks appears when copy from glass or adf, when printing or all?

Solution #1:
How many copies did you do from last drum changing? if over 80 000 copies, replace the drum unit.
-in case that streaks appears when copy and print

Solution #2:
If the streaks appears only if you copy from adf or glass, clean the glass and dry it out. Both glasses, narrow on left side beneath the adf/cover and glass for copy of original.

Solution #3:
If the streaks are wide and solid, with possible toner left overs, you need to replace fixing film.

Hope that helps!

Getting black thin linesrunning through finished copies, mostly on top and bottom of document

Hi,
how many copies do you have? (123button)

It's probably drum unit's fault ( it goes around 70000 copies ), replace the drum unit The code for the drum unit is C-EXV3 ( same code as toner ).

Streaky Copies

It dose not have a print head. But it dose have a drum. Are the streaks thin lines? Also, is only part of the copies fixed into the paper ( can you rub part of the copies OFF)? If you can rub off part of the copies - your problem is in the fixing unit. If the lines are fixed and can not be rubbed OFF you most likly need a new drum unit. Good Luck... Either way you will need a service rep. out to fix your problem

Canon Imagerunner 1203N

If the drum is a customer replaceable unit, you should just replace it. If it is something a technician would replace, I would recommend letting them do it. It will be messy and you could scratch the drum, negating any savings you would have. Ther may be a waste toner box. Be sure that is not overflowing. Also be sure that you are using the correct toner. Do not use a regular vacuum to clean the machine. The toner particles are too fine and will destroy the vacuum motor. You will also get one heck of an electrostatic jolt!

Constant Streaks

If the streaks only happen when using the document feeder, cleaning the thin glass strip on the left of the machine will help.

I just purchased an imagerunner 2200 from liquidation sale the copies come out black

Hello Platanon,
I feel confident i can help you. And I cannot praise you enuff for the sample you have offerred. Nice touch, and extremely helpful. The drum on your machine is toast. Good news is that it is relatively inexpensive, and comes with instuctions to install it. The fact that you were sharp enough to provide the sample page of the poor copy quality artifact makes me feel VERY confident you will have no problem ordering a new drum and successfully installing it. Just to bolster your confidence, check this out. Notice how there is a pattern to the worst yuck on the page you submitted. It correspondes with the diameter of the drum (@ every 3.7 inches). The linear streaks toward the center of the page are another sign of drum wear. Canon rates the drum @ 55k +/-. You are officially fixed :-) . But if you need more help let me know .Take care...........SPINAL.......
