My Rio Forge 512 won't show up in my mac itunes. It shows up on my mac desktop, but not in my itunes ver. 9. I reformatted it on a PC and reinstalled firmware 1.33 on a PC. I also have the rio itunes plugin installed. Anyone know why it isn't showing up?

For either of them, plug the unit into the USB port of
your computer, then run the utility to upgrade the your Forge.
(Eventually, my Forge's internal memory storage died - it still play music from card memory, but every time I turn it on I have tell it my language is english etc.)
you are suffering from the Digital licensing information encryption from the majors, which ITunes will NOT agree to. That's how the music industry is making it's muscle show, with this sort of tawdry nonsense. I don't believe there's a s/w upgrade on this, unfortunately. There is a slight possibility that your software might have an interpreter, yet your Rio being that old, not for certain.
not sure but when i plug in mine, it also shows another USB drive labeled as if it also were linked to the Rio player when it is most certainly not. ...maybe a manufacture or firmware error?
Press the MENU and turn it on, as soon as the word RIO shows on the
screen release the power button but do not release the MENU
button until it says upgrading Plug the USB cord to it and install Rio Forge Firmware_120 Turn the mp3 off then on normally Put the music back on your mp3 and it SHOULD be fixed. but your music will be gone..
When this happens to me (it does every few months), I re-flash the software following the instructions that come with it. Then the annoying "upgrader" message goes away for another few month. I use version 1.33 in my 512 forge.
