I had another light engine put in by hitachi repair shop 3 months ago now when you put on the tv it works fine but if you shut it off you have to wait about 2-3 hours before it will turn back on. If you turn it on before that all you get is the blue power light I hear the click when the blue light comes on but no fan, picture or sound but after 2-3 hours it works fine just don't shut it off. This is making me nuts any fedback would be great thanks for your time Bob.
Is there any pattern of light blinking that you are noticing??

Unfortunately, no one sells the individual components of that board. They're just too specialized. Think of how few sales they must have of the board, that only works in a single model of television. Then consider how many less they'd have of a single component of that board.

I think it is the power board. Chech this thread.
May result expensive to replace.

You need to check device internal temperature, temperature is in range then is heating sensor or control board, if it is over range then replace power supply.

You first test with tester all the single components in your tv power unit. As it is the power unit, as I sayed at first here. If it is gone you unsolder and change it. If you are skilled enough you will save $150 or so. If not it wont work and you buy the whole power board. You may also need to change the lamp if this does not work. Does it make sense??
I think I addressed problem right way from start. I will be grateful if you can rate properly my solution now.

I you order power unit you may find out that lamp is gone because of short in power unit. If you do not have a benchmark with spare parts there is no way you know for sure, unless the lamp appears broken at a glance.
Then the lamp is ok, change power board and it will work. Please re rate my solution fairly.

Hi after reading your posts it does sound like the power transformer is overheating like Dileep007 states in his post but what could be causing this to over heat is either a blown resistor or a transistor located on a heat sink next to the transformer.
Maybe even the transistor could have come away from the heatsink they are usually glued and clipped to the heat sink but what i have noticed is that if the bonding has come away from transisitor allownig a bad connection to the heatsink this could cause the transistor to overheat then fail causing the transformer to fail also due to iregular power at the transformer.
The best thing to do if your doing it yourself is to get the schematics and get the part numbers and use multimeter to check the resistance on the parts this should tell you witch parts have failed or giving wrong reading. If you follow the schematics you will be able to follow the order in witch to test the resisitors and transisitors as its power supply problem start around the transformer checking all resistors and transistors only do this if you know what your doing as you could damage beyond repair and not to mention give yourself a real nasty shock at same time. But Dileep007 is on the money so look around the transformer for any failing or failed parts let me know if you need further assistance ok
hi if you follow the mains lead where it goes into the board the transformer is powerd directly form the mains so its the first part thr power comes to from the mains cable.
Also ill look for the schematics for you and let you know what i find out ok ill have a look now and let you know ok

There could be a fault with the cooling fan.
See the fan documentation for this unit here.
The unit relies heavily on the cooling fan. To protect against damage from overheating, there are failsafe mechanisms that will kick in if the fan fails.
In your case, even though the fan turns on and off, there could be a communication problem where the unit can no longer detect the fan. It assumes that the fan isn't working, and to protect the components it prevents powering on for a set period of cool-down time.
A technician would have to diagnose and repair a fault like this.
I'm sure that your repair is under warranty. I'd call the same shop and have them check it out. It's likely that it's overheating and tripping a relay, or that the relay is malfunctioning.
May be there is some mechanical part damage inside it ... ...
may be there is some loose contact (may be it is with power cord or near by transformer or may be the transformer is getting heated too much so this can get rid by replacing with the new transformer ) inside if you are good at opening it just open and have a look ...
if you are not good or if you are afraid or if you dont have any idea about it then it is better to take the tv to the technician ...
any way it doesnt cost too much for repair............

Where did you got the sparks , i mean on the screen or inside...
from the terminals power supply the current moves towards transformer through the wires there will 3 wires 1. positive,
2. negative,3. ground...
the current after get s circulated to the circuit board ..
so the the waste current moves from the ground wire to the ground pin of the terminals and that current will get lost because of earthing..
so i think this ground wire is slightly in miscontact with the other positive or negative wire.

but i can say surely that it will near by the backside of the tv i think you can identify it if you open then the power supply wire which connects a device with the metal body over it ,it may around some nearly 15-20 cms in width and it may be nearly some 10-15 cms height & 1 important thing is it is covered on upside with the metal ...
i think you should visit the technician if you dont have idea...
due to that mis contact of ground wire the transformer is getting overheated and the screen will turn off due to improper power supply..
i hope all of those solutions given by me in above in details will satisfy you....
ok tell me one thing ... did you open it ... did you saw any fan inside it ...
i am not sure but i dont think fan will be present inside ...because i have opened & seen in some models it s was not present ..
but not sure ...

I ordered the manual and was checking every thing the way they said and things look good on the board no bad fuses the only thing I get if I turn on the tv when hot is the 5 green lrds blink then go out and the red led D911 blinks and I get a beep sound then nothing.I then last knight put a fan blowing on the ballast assy for 5 minutes and the tv came on. Today I turned on the tv it was cold shut it off let the fan stop and turned it back on and I got a spark out of the ballast and the tv did not come on did it again same spark and nothing.I just turned the tv on after having a fan blow on the ballast for about 10 minutes and it came on there was sill a small spark but its on what do you think is it the whole ballast or can I just replace parts or do you think the trouble is somewhere else thanks Bob.

If I order this part the lamp power unit this should solve my problem.
I am watching the tv as we speak it will stay on as long as I want it's when I shut it off I have to wait for the lamp power unit to cool off I point a fan at it and after it cools down it goes back on.
