For NiCd and NiMH batteries - check the battery voltage (for a good battery it is ~ 19, V); each battery contains 15 units 1.2 V each; you can test each unit after disassembling the battery case (my have 4 screws each, and the case has bottom and top parts). First charge the batteries; second, disassemble cases and check each unit voltage (shouldn't be less than 1.2 V); then take any battery tester (for AA, AAA and other batteries and accus for home usage), attach 2 long (~10 inches) wires to tester's testing contacts, and test each 1.2V unit for current - if it is in "yellow" or "red" zone - the unit is dead and needs replacement

At times, it happens that batteries act dead or weak because they lose charge from the crystals present inside them. Your batteries seems to have the same problem!

But do not worry, there is a solution. You can now recharge your Nicad batteries with the help of Nicad Battery Repair Manual. With the help of this fix guide, you can recharge the Nicad batteries within no time and make them work like the new batteries. I hope it would be helpful for you!

My battery charger for a Makita 18V drill gives me a flashing green light when I put a battery on to charge. What an I do to fix this?

I think that that is just to show that the battery is charging or it may show that the battery is full. You should only charge batteries when completely flat if it is a nicad battery. This is because the battery thinks that any power left is the new empty power level.

Hi my makita 18v impact driver seems to be getting alot weaker throughout the years, still works but no enough torqe

Lithium batteries have a limited lifespan, typically 3 or 4 years, and their capacity between charges decreases over the years.
To extend the lifetime of a battery it should be run completely flat after every few charges rather than topping it up. New batteries need to be charged several times and run flat under normal use before they gain their full capacity.

I need charging instructions for my 18v lithium batteries.

the lithium batteries are not like nicad you can cahrge them whenever you want and will not get a memory. Just put them on the charger and when the ready light is on they are done.

Makita 18v Lithium-Ion BL1830 Battery Won't Charge

If it is only six months old is it still under warranty?

You say "one" of your batteries. If you have others that still work then this is a good sign. It is the battery and not the charger.

If it's not under warranty and if it uses a NiCad battery this article may help.

http://ysuusy.com/easybatteryfix.html
Make sure you follow all the instructions.
If it uses a different type of battery and not NiCad then it won't work.

I managed to bring 3 of my old tool batteries back to life that had been lying dead in my garage for years. I used 4 lantern batteries for the procedure. I would be a bit reluctant to use car batteries as they pack a hell of a punch and you would not want an explosion.

Good Luck

I AM LOOKING FOR CHARGER FOR TYPE 6347D BATTERY IS 1822 18v 2.0 Ah ..... I WANNA BUY IT FROM EBAY BUT DON´T KNOW WCHICH TYPE CHARGER IS SUITABLE FOR THAT.... WILL I GET A GOOD ADVICE FROM ANYONE? PLS

The charger you need is Makita charger DC1801. If you do a search for "DC1801" on ebay you will find heaps of those chargers on there!

The DC1801 charger will charge the 6347D 18v 2Ah Makita NiCad pod-style battery.

I bought a new highter current ni cad for my makita; however, the

As long as the charger voltage and the battery voltage match (7 volts) there should be no problem. A fast charger just runs more current thru the battery (per unit time) than a not-so-fast charger. If you notice the battery getting really hot when it's charging (like too hot to touch), stop using it.

Makita cordless driver drill model-6347d. ni-mh rechargeable nickel metal hydride battery 1834 18v 2.6ah will not stay charged. battery charter dc 1804- works great.

You say will not stay charged? Over what time period? Are you aware Nicad and NiMh rechargeables discharge naturally at 1% per day so where does that leave your power tool after 3 months? Furthermore they only have around 1000 charges in their useful life so you can immediately see how these tools are not for intermittent(ie handyman) use.

Problem charging makita batteries 18v li-ion

Unfortunately, Makita’s li-ion battery packs have a design flaw. After having the same problem with my two batteries, I took it apart and saw the problem immediately. You see each battery pack has ten li-ion battery cells and a circuit board with a memory chip witch holds the charging history of the battery pack. But that memory chip constantly draws power from 2 of the 10 batteries. The current it draws is very small but if you consider it over 8 month or more, the power drain becomes very significant. You end up with a battery pack with 8 still fully charged battery cells and 2 drained battery cells. When you put this battery pack in the charger, it detects weak battery cells, assumes they are defective and refuses to charge. To avoid this problem you should charge your battery pack often, even if you haven't used it, every two months should be ok.
I suspect that Makita doesn’t make these battery packs, they make power tools, good ones too. Buy Makita should definitely have a few words with their supplier before they become a liability!

Makita dc1804f charger will not charge new i-mh 1834 18v battery

I think your tryiong to charge NIMH batteries oon a charger designed for Lithium Ion batteries. With all the new style batteries such as NICAD, NIMH and LI-ION, charging becomes difficult. Most chargers pre NIMH and LI-ion, were designed for NICAD's. The best advise, match your batteries with the correct charger
