My Maytag mav208daww won't hold water. When I start the washer the water does not stay in the tub, it immediately goes out. It doesn't fill at all. The water leaked out of the bottom of the washer the first time. The second time I turned it on for about 30 seconds and the water still didn't stay in the tub so I turned on the spin cycle before it leaked onto the floor

SOURCE: washer leaking water on floor

Need to check drain pump and its hose connections. If its not from the drum seal then that's usually where the leaks occur.

SOURCE: water runs out onto the floor

the drain hose is off the pipe or other hoses from the pump to the wash tub. old hoses have a split in it. could be more than just hoses.

not easy but fixable you will need to unplug the unit and take the back off and have a look see. good luck and have fun.

SOURCE: Maytag Neptune Front Load Washer Model MAH4000AWW low last spin

two problems here,
your shaft seal is running on its last leg
the sound is unmistakeable and always described the same...
the water issue, you probably have a trickle leak through the cold water valve
the mixing valve is quite an easy repair, but I would have to say with all honesty, it probably time for a new machine
the hub seal is a tub replacment call
2 hrs of labor if hes good
and the tub runs around 500.00 dollars
sory for the bad news

My maytag mtw5600tq1 washer won't hold water. Its

Hi,
Its sounds like you have a siphon going on, this happens when the drain hose it too low during fill and as the water enters the unit it exits through the drain hose. To stop this the drain hose needs to be higher than the tub itself, meaning: raise the drain hose behind the washer to about control panel area. This will or should stop the siphon effect and allow the water to remain in the tub. If the drain hose is low this siphon will start again.
I hope this helps

I am having difficulties replacing the water valve on my maytag top load washer, model mav208daww. How do I get to it?

Hi.

Disconnect power cord or trip circuit breaker. Unplug the water hoses after turning off the water supply. Using a screwdriver, release and lift up the washer top panel. Using needle nose pliers, disconnect the wires from the old valve, and undo the hose that feeds water into the tub. From the back of the washer, I undo the screw holding the valve in place. Remove the old valve. Connect electrical wires and hose to the new inlet valve before installing the valve. Screw the valve back in place and reattach the hot and cold water hoses, close the top of the washer, turn on the water supply, and connect power back.

Below a diagram. The valve is part 14. Click on the picture to enlarge.

Will not fill with water but works on spin cycle

If your washer won't fill with water, but works in the spin cycle then the washer is sensing that water is in the tub. If there isn't water in the tub, then it is probably a sensor. If there is water but the spin cycle doesn't get it out, then look at the pump or control board.

Washer immediately goes into wash cycle when filling with water on initial start. At the end of the spin cycle ,washer dumps water back in to drum. Also,it's not getting the detergent out of clothes. Maytag...

The water-level switch regulates your washer's fill volume. This switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. If the switch is defective, it may prematurely signal the water to shut off. If so, you probably need to replace the water-level switch.

My washer wont aloud my water to go insidethe washer

If the washer makes a humming sound, but no water goes in, and there is no other action, the water shut-off valve is off (outside the washer), or the pipes are frozen.

For top-load washers: If the washer starts agitating immediately without filling the tub, the water level switch is bad (falsely senses the tub is full already) or the water level sensing hose plugged up while there was water in the machine, and it has still has pressure inside it to fool the level switch.

Maytag legacy series tub wont fill

Your drain hose is too low or there is no air gap where the hose enters the drain line.
This causes the water to siphon out as it fills.
