I have an Olympus e510 that I bought new 2 years ago. The other day I got it out to use it and it will not turn on. I purchased a new battery, charged it, and it still will not work. When I removed the battery from the charger the light on the charger was green. I decided after the camera would not turn on I put the battery back on the charger. At that time the charger was showing a red light. Could the charger be going bad?

Hi, as per your information your camera 2 years old but not used much. You buy a new battery 1st time when you charged you see the gree light. But camera not working. When you try to charge the battery again you seen the red light. Its mean your charger have a problem. So what you do now? Ok try these.
Remove the power connection of the charger. then fixed the battery there slowly & properly. After that plug on the charger again. If the same thing happens then unplug the charger & plug in in different point. Then see what showing. If again red light then wait 1 hours and waiting for green signal. If there is no green signal showing then visit a service center with your charger. Tell them your problem. They will fixed the charger for you. Don't worry your camera is ok.
Your new battery or your charger one of then damaged. Thanks & waiting for your feedback.

Hello,

Have you tried checking the battery? As you mentioned before, the camera was bought 3 years ago. And doesn't specify if you left the batteries inside the camera. Please try replacing the battery, otherwise send the camera to the nearest Olympus for technical check up.

Thank you

MY OLYMPUS SP 500UZ constantly kills batteries...any ideas? I can't go even an hour without replacing batteries most days.

The best thing I EVER bought for my Olympus was the Re-chargeable Lithium Ion battery. The worst thing I did was buy an off brand. That was a waste. I ended up getting the more expensive brand Olympus recommended and all was GREAT again!! 1,000's of pictures later and they still work great.

Rm-1 Olympus remote. I have 2 of them and can not get them to work with my Olympus E510. New Batteries, tried to set frequency. No luck. Any advise?

Starting on page 45 of the user manual explains how to use your RM-1 remote control. You have to set up the camera in remote control mode in order to fire the RM-1.

Please help this techno-phobe fix her digital camera!!

That sounds like a problem that will need checking out by a technician. First, check the purchase date and warranty info-maybe it's still under warranty. Otherwise, look at Olympus' website under product support to see how they would handle servicing the camera. If it was, say, over US$150, it may be worth fixing.

Olympus FE-115 : wont turn on..turns iself off!!!

I had the same problem and i called up cutomer support on 1300 659 678 (Australia) and they said that the problem may lie in your batteries. It was advised that you use Lithium batteries, and to avoid use of Alkaline, since they dont have the required power to operate the camera which is why it turns off right away. As to what type of rechageable batterires to use i am not sure, i think it was Nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) batteries. Hope this solves your problem.
