You would be able to Charge the Tom Tom via USB Cable but it would take much more time as compared to a Standard Car Charger.

Try standing still outside in an open area. If you still don't get a signal it's probably broken but worth trying a reset - reset button generally underneath the unit needs a paperclip to operate it...

Your best bet is to buy one on ebay with a good screen. They are easy to replace and the only tools you will need are a #8 and #6 torx driver and a credit card to open the case.

try charging the tom tom fully and then reset while it is charging. a tom tom will not reset unless the new battery is fully charged which may take some time if you only have a car charger.

Did you try to reset the Tom Tom? Did you try to see if the unit is charging or fully charged (samll green light on the lower righthand corner should illuninate when charging)? I have had problems with the power connection at the base of the unit getting loose. Try taking it into the computer and getting a full charge if it is a charging problem. Not an expert but expereinced the same problem recently.

Battery's probably dead. If you're within warranty you can have it replaced by contacting TomTom. Otherwise, you can still use the device, you'll just have to have it always connected to the charger.
