From what you describe it could very well be a cold solder joint, this can be a tough find as you need to know where to look on the solder side of the board. It also could be with the wiring going to the switch. Try moving the switch when it is cold to see if it will come on..... here is my email so we can keep working on this and I can answer questions....

Ive got a galaxy 99 i put new coax 18ft and a new k40 antennae 10 meter type i cannot get the swr to come down.i have tried grounding everything but no change.i even bought a new meter

How low do you want it . anything below 2 is fine and even 2.5 isn't going to hurt. its when you get higher than that then you should worry . Relocate your antenna on your vehicle. When you bought the new antenna and coax did you buy a new mount also ? You may have to shorten the antenna or lenghten it also to get a good match .

I have recently bought a new Cobra 29 LTD BT(new) from the USA not realising it was 27MHz? Does anyone know if you can get them changed to 26MHz? Or does anyone do it? I'm a truckie & would li

It is stuck on 27 by design and FCC rules--those almost never will go down to 26 and if did would require extensive retuning to receive and or transmit there----sell it if you need 26 and buy a Ranger or Galaxy instead.

call galaxy again they will send you to a different tech.or you could just say heck with them and take it to the tech of your choice. Sounds like he never finished the job and there are more then one cold solder spots.
