The top screen for nds is upside down - Nintendo DS Lite

It is a Chinese set and they view upside down. Easy to fix.

Scroll dowm from the top left corner, and you will get the option to rotate screen.

most likely its the top screen ribbon.Because when you open the ds all the way it might push the ribbon in just enough to be read but when not open it cant read the top screen and it will shut down.I have instructions on how to change a top screen you can use them to put the ribbon back in. the only difference is you don't need to unplug the white and black wires.First you need a tri wing screwdriver and a cross screwdriver.You can get both on ebay.Then their are seven screws four tri wing and three cross.You will need to pry the back off be very careful.Start on the side that doesn't have the on off switch and work your way around.Once you have the back off unscrew the two cross screws that hold the logic board on.Then unplug the white and black wifi and mic wires they snap on and off.Then flip the logic board over by pushing the bottom screen out.On the other side is where the ribbon for the top screen is.To get the hinge apart their are two more cross screws in the top left corner take them out that releases the hinge.very carefully roll the ribbon so you can get it through the metal ring and the wires pull the wires first.to get the top apart the four cross screws are above and below the speakers under those small squares.A needle will get them out easily .Once you get the screws out then slid the back of the top up 1/8 of an inch then pull the back off carefully.You need to push the screen out and unsolder the speaker wires or use new ones.Make sure when putting it back together you roll the new ribbon the right way look at the old one to find out .Getting the old ribbon out and the new one in is a little difficult so take it all apart first and get the wires out then the ribbon and put the ribbon in first.

Yes, this can be fixed. You will need to replace the top LCD screen of the NDS, as the cable attaches directly to it. The speakers will need to be soldered to the new top LCD screen, as the top replacement screens usually do not come with speakers attached to it.

Dear person,
Maybe you should get a new DS.When the screen goes blank that means it's old and wants to be left alone.

This is very unusual and I've never come across it. I can only think there has been some type of software corruption as you can not put the screen in backwards or upside down.

Once, at University, someone had flipped the screens of all the public computers (running on Windows XP) of the English Department upside down. The wallpaper, desktop icons, fonts, mouse-cursor and even the start-up screen...everything was displayed or moved upside down. People could not check out their e-mails or surf or do anything.
To reverse the upside down screen mode, press ctrl, alt and the up arrow (arrows console) at the same time; the screen will probably go blank. Turn off the monitor, turn it on again and the display will be normal again. If you possess a sense of humour or are antisocial, press ctrl, alt and the down arrow simultaneously, turn off the monitor, turn it on again and everyone (excluding the culprit) will be desperate --> upside down! Works for Windows XP Home and Prof.

you need to replace it. it sounds defective. thats is if it wasnt dropped. send it in to nintendo for a free repair.
