Black Screen Last night while watching tv, our screen went slowly to black with a last bit of blue color in the center. The power cord was plugged into the back of our Comcast DVR, and the DVR was plugged directly into the wall. Now our television will turn on, but we get no picture or sound. The DVR is doing the same. Is all hopeless? -or do you think we might be able to repair the problem? Thank you for any suggestions, MonicaP.

Hello Andy007...I tried the solution you suggested to try and isolate the problem. When I plugged the television directly into the wall, the tv made the "pinging" sound it used to make when the power was turned on. However, the on/off red indicator light was not on, and when I pressed the power button to see if I could get any response again, nothing happened..no sound or light. I unplugged and tried once more, and it made the initial ping noise again when I plugged in, but nothing afterward. -And of course COMCAST is already taking the stance that their product did NOT cause damage to my television. Thank you- MonicaP

Yes to all of the above.-As a matter of fact, I have taken the back off already, as I am ready to start the process of elimination. HOPEfully with your help, we can get to the bottom of the problem.

The first step here is to isolate the problem. You need to know if it is in your TV or DVR. Unplug your TV from the DVR and connect it directly to the wall outlet. Then connect a TV antenna, or a small thin wire, to the F connector on the back of the TV (this is the threaded connector - where you plug your cable). Try searching for some air channels and see if you get any channels at all, and post back.

Ok now we know your TV definitely has a problem. Are you electronically inclined ?? Can you open the TV and check some parts I will tell you about, and are you able to solder and desolder ? Thanks.

Sony FD Trinitron Wega model KV-34BR800

Sony Wega Triniton KV-32FS100 TV

For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.

I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.

No channels showing

If you are using Direct TV or Dish Network call their tech support.
If you are on cable TV, call for a service man.
I would say that your TV has lost its sync separater chip and it shouldn't cost more than $60 dollars to fix, if the repair guy is honest. It's a 30 minute job.

No pic but sound :/

You are having a high voltage problem. Quite possibly in the horizontal deflection. I would check the horizontal output and regulator transistors.
