Open up the case and look at the motherboard. Somewhere on the motherboard you will see a little silver battery that looks just like a watch battery. Take it out for about 30 seconds then put it back in.

How do I open BIOS supervisor mode from boot and F2? I bought a Acer aspire one cloudbook 11 used and now want to resell it. Went to reset and it failed. Booted up to Acer logo and it won't go into...

BIOS user passwords are the kiss of ***** - they lock you out ahead of the boot process. You can't reach Windows because the system won't even allow you to access any of the drives (including USB devices.) You need to go back to whoever you got the machine from and find out what the password is and disable it when you are able to access the BIOS screens.

Remove password from hardrive in bios

Before your computer loads your operating system, it starts by running the BIOS program, which is extremely important because of its various options.

You can even set a password on your hard drive so that nobody can use your laptop computer without your password.

Once you put in the password into your hard drive, you can only remove it by accessing the BIOS system and deleting the password completely from the memory of your computer.

Save all of your important files on an external hard drive or similar storage device.
This is a precaution to avoid losing all of your files when making changes to the BIOS.

Then, restart your computer.
Wait for your computer's operating system to ask you to access the BIOS menu.

This may be at different times, depending on the manufacturer of your computer.
It can ask you when the manufacturer's logo comes up, or on a separate screen indicating for you to click the "F2" button on your keyboard to start.

Access the BIOS menu by clicking the key or combination of keys that you are informed to click. This information can be found in your computer's manual, but it changes between different companies.

Commonly used keys for this process are "F10", "F2" and "Delete."
Go to the BIOS option that contains your hard disk drive password.

The option that will lead you to this password varies immensely due to different laptop models, but it may appear as something such as "Advanced" or "Security."

Look for the option for changing the password, which should say "User Password," and then click "Enter." Put in the existing password and then click "Enter."

Do not enter any password into the blank fields asking you to enter a new password, and this will remove the password.

Exit the menu by clicking "Save and Exit." Click "Enter."

I cant remember my login password and f8 does not work in safe mode still asking the password

Once you assign a password to your HP computer's BIOS configuration utility, you will need to enter that password every time you attempt to access the BIOS.
If you forget this password, don't fret there is still a way to unlock your BIOS without actually knowing the original user defined password.
This involves using a "backdoor" password, which is something that is installed onto your BIOS at the factory level that never changes.

Turn on your HP computer.
Press "F2" to load your HP BIOS access screen.
A password prompt will load on your monitor.
Type "merlin" into the password field (with no quotes) and hit your "Enter" keyboard key to unlock your HP BIOS password.

When I turn the laptop on I see the Toshiba screen for just a second and then it instantly goes to this lovely black screen that says password= How this got there I have know idea. Can anyone help?

Dear beanbean,
This "lovely black screen" is a BIOS password screen. This shows up because somebody has set a boot-up password in the BIOS Setup. If you're lucky, the BIOS Setup is still unprotected, and you can access it as follows:
When you turn it on, look for something that says "Press [button] to enter Setup" or "Press [button] to enter Setup Utilities." Press the corresponding button on your keyboard, and you should enter BIOS Setup.

Now two things can happen. Either you are permitted to access Setup, or you are prompted for the password.
If you can access Setup, navigate to the Security tab and clear all set passwords. If not... then you can either reset BIOS by unplugging the computer, taking off the back, and removing the CMOS Battery (unrecommended), or you can call Toshiba support and ask for the master password (Most manufacturers have a master password, which will allow you to access Setup and remove the boot-up password)
Hope this helps,Ericthecmh

Hello i have dell vostro 500 i forgot the my system bios password pls help to remove the password pls

You can set two passwords

1. Setup password, used to access and change settings
2. System password, used to restrict access to the system

If you have set the first one, which is asked only if you press F2 and try to access setup / BIOS settings, and if you can still go to windows, download the latest firmware for this computer and execute it. This will update the firmware after erasing the old settings, thereby erasing the existing password also. Ensure you do this process when your battery is fully charged and also with the power adaptor connected and on. During the process if the system powers down then this will turn your motherboard faulty and it can only be replaced by Dell.

If you have set the second one, which asks everytime you start your computer and waits in a black screen for a password then you can only get this reset by Dell, if you have warranty call them else using another computer write to them.

you might need to reset the BIOS to bypass the password. You can open up the computer tower and remove the CMOS battery for 30 seconds and put it back in. Try to turn on the computer and it should not ask you for the password anymore.

Dell inspirion white screen

hi there u may have to ask your friend for the password,
if the password is set in the BIOS(in the computer hardware)
try removing the bios battery this will erase the hardware configuration saved on the mainboard, dunno if it'll kill the password set.
there will be no ther way iknow, perhaps <bios flashing, but this only laptop techs can do, u need extra chips and software for that, pretty expensive

if you just cannot access windows, just reinstall another copy of it and set your own password then.(you will have to install all the programs again!)
