Panasonic CT-27SL14 problem: There is band across the top 3 inches of the screen consisting of multiple thin horizontal lines of about an eighth of an inch wide evenly spaced. The lines appear to be inverted images of the actual image that should be appearing within this three inch band at the top of the screen. The problem is visible for both cable TV input through the coaxial input as well as DVD input through the AV inputs.

Horiz.output IC going bad, need to replace it

  • mrvanwinkles Nov 16, 2011

Have similar problem on a Panasonic Tau model CT-27SL15.
    It's a 27" CRT TV manufactured around 2005.

Found a service manual online w/schematics and board layouts.

    Panasonic Service Manualhttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/35219914/PANASON...
See pg 25 (of 42) - Deflection Schematic Diagram (Main PCB)
Finding the actual bad component(s) may not be so easy.
Anyway ... just wanted to add this comment.

Our tv, a Panasonic # CT-36D11E/CT-36D11 only shows a horizontal thin line across the screen. The sound is fine - any ideas? Is it time to replace or could it be repaired cheaply?

Resolder the vertical IC and replace those capacitors near and next to your vertical IC. If the horizontal line still appears, you may have to replace the IC. Thanks for asking and be caredful!

Panasonic CT-27L8SG displays gray screen and white hoizontal line

Is it still under warranty?
If not I would find a good TV Service Shop and have them check out the power supply as there more than likely a 'Capacitor' much like a battery that is going bad.

Check capicitor in vertical hold circuit. You should have solid knowledge of electronics repair before attemping repair. TV's can emmit harmful radiation, and produce voltages up to or in excess of 30kV.
