In order to type a paper for your class, on your Macbook, you would need a word processing application, in order to accomplish this. The most commonly used application, believe it or not,is Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 or the earlier version, 2008. However, if you don't have a copy of either and do are not moved to shell out several hundred dollars or more, I have another option for you.

Try Open Office for Mac. It is free and it does not take long to set up on your Mac.

Here are two key links for you to review for more info
FAQs about Open Office (Aqua) for Mac
Download Open Office for Mac OS X (Intel) Aqua

The word processing application you will need to use in Open office, is caller Writer" and it saves in all the formats that are readable in Microsoft Word for both the Mac and the PC.

If you have more questions on using this open source free software, please let me know. Always glad to help!

I have a Compaq presario laptop F730US which will not allow me to burn photos on a CD I need to burn 4 photos for an art submission TODAY and I cannot do in on either of my Compaq laptops. Wondering if I...

Hi,

Check if you have any cd burnig software installed. If there is none, the you can download free on the internet. Or if you already have one, and still you cannot burn, then do the steps below.

Here's How:
  1. Click on the Start button.
If you're using Windows XP, also click on Run.
  2. In the search box (Windows 7 and Windows Vista) or the Run textbox (Windows XP) type regedit and click OK or press the ENTER key.
This will open the Registry Editor program.
Important: Changes to the registry are made in these steps. Take care in making only the changes outlined below. While it's not a necessary step to complete this process, I recommend that you play it safe by backing up the registry keys you're modifying.
  3. Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder under Computer/My Computer and click the '> or (+) icon next to the folder name to expand the folder.
  4. Continue to expand folders until you reach the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class registry key.
  5. Click on the '> or (+) icon next to the Class key to expand it. You should see a long list of subkeys open up under Class that look something like this: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
Note: Each 32-digit subkey is unique and corresponds to a particular type, or class, of hardware in Device Manager.
  6. Determine the Correct Class GUID for the Hardware Device. Using this list, find the correct Class GUID corresponding to the type of hardware that you're seeing the Device Manager error code for.
Hope this helps

Iv tryed most things. my acer aspire 7520 laptop has lost the dvd/cd player from the device manager so it will not work it is connected and it starts up.but no picture or sound.

You need to reset the hi and lo filters for the device, as this is caused by a registry error or corruption
Close all open programs

Click on Start

Click Run

Type REGEDIT and press Enter

Vista doesn't come with the run command enabled so just type REGEDIT in the search bar above Start..

Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders to open them.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
(looks like same file name for XP and Vista?)

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters
Lower Filters
Upper Filters.bak
Lower Filters.bak

When recieving faxes on our canon laser class 2050p, the machine has a loud squeak

Your rollers will need to be replaces. Rollers feed the paper through the tray. You can find paper feed rollers for your device here:

http://www.precisionroller.com/paper-feed-components-for-canon-laser-class-2050p/products.html

They are very straight forward to install and instructions should be in your manual.

In device manager click on the + sign beside the cd- dvd > then right click on the driver and uninstall it .

Canon image class mf5750 legal size paper

Hi ...

If you wish to print using a paper size which is different from the normal one A4, you need to specify the same to the printer else it will not recognize or will not accept the paper ...

Below are the steps that you can follow to:
1) Specify paper size
2) Specify paper type ..

Specifying the Paper Size At the factory, the paper size has already been set to [LTR]. Normally, you can make copies in this setting. When making copies on other sizes of paper, you need to specify the paper size according to the following.

  1. Press <Menu>.

  2. Press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to select [COMMON SETTINGS], then press <Set>.
  3. Press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to select [PAPER SETTINGS], then press <Set>.

  4. Press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to select [PAPER SIZE], then press <Set>.

  5. Press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to select the appropriate paper size (LTR, LGL, EXECUTIV, A4, B5, ENVELOPE, or FREE SIZE), then press <Set>.
    paper_settings_1_paper_size.gif

black_dot.gif When [ENVELOPE] is selected: white_square.gif Press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to select the type of envelopes (COM10, MONARCH, DL, or ISO-C5), then press <Set>.
black_dot.gif When [FREE SIZE] is selected: white_square.gif Press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to select [VERTICAL SIZE] or [HORIZONTAL SIZE], then press <Set>. white_square.gif Use the numeric keys, or press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to specify vertical and horizontal sizes of the paper in millimeters (mm).
Available range in [VERTICAL SIZE]: 127 mm to 356 mm (5" to 14")
Available range in [HORIZONTAL SIZE]: 76 mm to 216 mm (3" to 8 1/2") white_square.gif Press <Set>. Repeat the steps above to specify both vertical and horizontal sizes of the paper.

  6. Press <Stop/Reset> to return to the standby display.

Specifying the Paper Type [PLAIN PAPER] is selected as the default paper type. When making copies on paper other than plain paper, you can specify the paper type according to the following. Specifying the paper type can prevent poor copy quality, or the printout not being printed correctly.

  1. Press <Menu>.

  2. Press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to select [COMMON SETTINGS], then press <Set>.

  3. Press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to select [PAPER SETTINGS], then press <Set>.

  4. Press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to select [PAPER TYPE], then press <Set>.

  5. Press <la.gif> or <ra.gif> to select the appropriate paper type, then press <Set>.
    paper_settings_2_paper_type.gif

You can select from the following paper types: - Plain paper (17 lb to 24 lb (64 g/m2 to 90 g/m2 )): [PLAIN PAPER] - Heavy paper (25 lb to 34 lb (91 g/m2 to 128 g/m2 )): [HEAVY PAPER], [HEAVY PAPER H]*1 - Transparency: [TRANSPARENCY] - Label*2 : [HEAVY PAPER], [HEAVY PAPER H]*1 - Envelope: [HEAVY PAPER], [HEAVY PAPER H]*1*1 If print fixing is not sufficient when printed with [HEAVY PAPER] selected, select [HEAVY PAPER H].
