Sony 52 inch XBR with bands of ghosted images

I have a Sony 52 inch XBR with multiple horizontal bands of ghosted images on the screen. The problem goes away when the bezel is pressed in. Is there anything under the bezel that can be tightened up to resolve this?

Its a TAB bond Problem with the LCD. You can take apart the TV and install a rubber Bumper to put pressure on the TAB. TAB bonds always get worse... I dont know how long it will solve the issue... but u can get a little more life out of it.
Rember when working with the TV the voltages can kill!!

I have the same TV...same problem...common problem...unless u ask Sony.

Keep calling Sony so they issue a recall for these panels. I have the same issue.

If the line is Horizontal then you deffinantly have a cable issue, replace the cable and that should do it, if it continues the problem could be in the port itself, if using HDMI switch to VGA or composite to test this theory. please keep me posted.

Michael, does the ghosting go away of you tap the set? Or if you turn off the set and let it cool off and turn it back on, is the ghosting still here? One of the most common causes of ghosting or double image problem is due to a defective LCD panel tab. Sony's are known for this problem. I would recommend getting a diagnoses done on the set to be sure. If it turns out to be a LCD tab problem, the only true fix is to replace the panel.

I have a 10 to 12 inch dark area in the middle of the screen running from top to bottom and the entire left side of the dark area is distorted with ghosting on any movement. It is a Sony Bravia XBR 4 52...
It sounds like a bad panel or possibly a bad digital board. This board is mounted on the back of the LCD panel. Have it checked by a repair shop.

XBR 4 vertical black band, ghosting/smearing, getting worse.
Hi, I have a similar issue which is progressively getting worse. My TV is on a sliding mount, and interestingly enough, sometimes I can "jilt" it by hitting it and it clears. This seems to me to be a connector problem, where heat (thermal expansions, electrical resistances) can introduce degrading signal. Now if I could find a manual on how to take this damn thing apart.......Certainly does't solve the warranty issue, but at least gives a reason for one to kick their TV.
