When I get on the treadmill and run or walk, after 2 mins the motor turns off, why?
This machine has what they call a thermal switch. It is designed to shut the machine off if it gets too hot. This heat is caused by friction. Friction is caused 99% of the time by the walking belt or the drive belt. If it is the drive belt then it can be solved by either applying a treadmill lubricant (must be made for treadmill belts) or by purchasing a new belt. If you feel the underneath side of the belt and you feel a screen door type feeling you just need lubricant. If you feel a smooth surface you will probably need a new belt. If you have lubricated in the past year and your belt has the screen door feel then take off the motor hood cover and check the drive belt. If it is worn then you will need to replace that. You can purchase either of these products from the manufacturer, at www.iconservice.com. a couple of other places that may have them for discounts are www.ebay.com, www.fitnessrepairparts.com, or www.treadmilldoctors.com.
