when ı connect archos to PC there is nothing seen. My archos ask connection type and ı choose hard drive mode(also doing the same with windows media player mode) but my computer can not see it.I search this everywhere but only ı can do charge.And ı use only the parts coming with first package parts.And ı do not think cause from my PC ı have tried with three PCs.How can ı solve this.Thanks..
Okay, I just started reading your problem and started freaking out because it was happening to me and I suddenly thought that I would have to replace it. But luckily, my only problem was that I needed to prop-up my archos while it was plugged in. I would think that somewhere down the line, me and you have both knocked something loose in the connector. I have the 604 (non wifi) I can not connect directly to usb2 ports. I have fount the only way I can connect to a usb2 port is to use a 3rd party archos cable AND connect this cable into a usb2 cable extender, then into a usb2 port. Anyone else have this problem connecting directly into usb2? I have not seen this compalint anywhere else. I found the work around. its just annoying.
Same problem for me on the 605 WiFi. Charging over USB works just fine while the PC doesn't see the device. I tried it on 3 different computers, both with the original USB cable and the separately bought docking station.
The device asks to enable USB when connected, when confirming it displays the usual connection screen (USB cable attached, PC Hard Drive).
Same thing when connecting as Windows Media device.
Nothing has changed on the USB connection, I always connected it directly to the PC without problems.
Any help is appreciated.
I have the same problem with my 1 month old archos 5, i just woke up one morning and it was like that. for about 1 week i could get it to connect if i fiddled around with the USB cable, so i'm thinking its a problem with the cable. USB 2 cable do tend to burn out when plugged in for extended periods like the ridiculous 8 hours it takes to change the archos 5.
No help for customer support of course!!!
