After not having turned on the set for a few days, I turned it on today to first see blurriness down the left hand side of the screen. This seemed to resolve itself after a short period of time. However, with a few hours (2 or less) the picture started to degrade, beginning with discoloration and blurriness and vertical white lines across the screen. The color seemed to cycle through red, white and greenish tints and gets worse. When the TV is turned on now, there's a "rainbow" along with a thin green line across the middle of the tv. When the set is shut off, there's a circular area slightly to the right of center with red/green around black. Wondering what this could entail, as this is an HD CRT TV. Thanks in advance!
You have a shorted green CRT that is affecting the other crts the short is internat to the crt that leaves what is called retrace lines. if the set is more than three years old then replace all three guns.

The set is just about 2 years old, but to have it serviced, so far I've gotten a $110 labor estimate, which doesn't include parts. There's no chance that poking around the service menu might yield some results by chance? Any ideas on what the cost of the parts might be? That would determine if repairs are in order or if selling for parts/junking is my next move.
Thanks!
