Bigg T- I have the same problem, I have a leak at where the agitator shaft comes out of the planetary housing. I took the planetary housing off the mixer and only see a bearing on the top and no way to grease the shaft. I called the local hobart shop and they say the problem is usually a bad lower bearing and seal. I figured I would replace both bearings and the seal but don't know how or where to put the grease in.

Hobart A200 Noise

After viewing and listening to your video, my first guess would be bad bearing(s). The sound varies with the speed of the agitator, so the noise is at the speed of the transmission shaft or planetary area. These mixers use very common standard bearings. As such, they are available very reasonably from sources OTHER than Hobart. You will need to take the transmission apart in order to find and solve the problem. Study the parts manual in detail. It seems complicated, but once you understand it, it is logical. I highly recommend that you get a really good understanding of how it works and goes together before you start taking it apart though.

Hello, my Hobart AE200 seeps oil from the front panel. How do I top it up? How often does the oil need replacing and with what type of oil? Thanks

It's not oil in the A200, it's #2 weight grease. Although when it gets old enough it can break down far enough to basically become oil (either that or someone put oil in it previously). There are a number of answers written on fixya.com explaining how to disassemble the transmission and change the grease. Fill with 36 ounces #2 grease. FYI : disassembling the transmission and changing the grease is a very messy task and one can VERY easily reassemble the transmission incorrectly, so consider bringing the mixer to Hobart to have the job done.

How do I empty and then refill the grease in the gear box of my 30 quart Hobart mixer

Transmission has to be somewhat disassembled, grease removed, lower seal should be replaced and then grease added and reassembled. Not that easy to do. Check www.hobartservice.com for your local Hobart office.

Oil (or maybe broken down grease) leaking from the accessory hub of Hobart mixer.

You're right, it's broken down grease. The A200 doesn't have a rubber seal to prevent this from leaking, either. That's normally OK, when the grease in reasonable condition, but when it breaks down bad enough, you see what you're seeing. The grease needs to be changed which requires disassembly of the transmission. It's quite a job (and very messy) if you're not familiar with it, but if you're interested I know I've read (and may have written one) instructions on disassembling the transmission on this website. If you decide to do the job yourself, be sure to remove the attachment hub (comes out to the inside of the transmission) and clean the passage well.

I have oil coming from the front of a hobart a200 mixer,What to look for? and what kind of oil?

If you have oil leaking from the attachment hub, the transmission grease has liquified. The transmission will need to be opened so the old lubricant can be removed, by scooping it out. There aren't any seals in the attachment hub, just two torrington needle bearings. The helical gears thrust the pinion gear onto a thrust bearing in the hub to create a seal. The hub has a return hole in it's casting for excess lube to return internally. It's possible the return hole is restricted. On the other hand, if the machine has been filled with oil, it will probably leak like a siv.
The new lube should be 35 OZ of mobil XPH 222,
Hobart part number is 103881-47 for 32OZ.
