What if you DON'T use the remote? Does it shut down when just using it?

If SO, you have a bigger problem.

If NOT, it sounds like the remote is hosed - sending a code to shut off.

Do you have another remote of any brand that you could set to do something simple, like change volume? Don't train it from the original, though, or it would do the same thing.

I bought Yamaha RX V565 4yrs ago, then after 2 years, may receiver always shut off 5 minutes everytime I open. What is the problem or reason of shutting down my receiver? Thank you

press and hold both the "DIRECT" and "TONE CONTROL" buttons and press power and see what it says on the display. This will give us some idea of what is causing the receiver to turn off.

Zone 2 Setup on the RX-V773 using the ZONE2/PRESENCE Extra Speakers The RX-V773 extra speaker terminals can power one set of speakers for Zone 2 or Presence speakers. If the extra speaker terminals are utilized then the RX-V773 cannot be set for Bi Amp (Surround Back/BI-AMP terminals). Setting the Extra Speaker Terminals Note: The RX-V773 remote control will be used to access the On Screen Menu of receiver. 1. Press the Arrow Down button on the remote to select 7ch+1ZONE. 13. Press the Enter button on the remote to select 7ch+1ZONE. 14. Press the On Screen button to exit the on screen menu. To control Zone 2 using the RX-V773 remote, the switch at the upper left side (above the BD/DVD Scene button) of the remote must be set to Zone 2. To see the operations on the front of the Yamaha receiver you must press the Zone Control button on the front of the receiver. Note: Only analog signals can be sent to Zone 2. If you want to output the sound from Zone 2, connect an external component to USB Thumb drive, USB iPhone/iPod, Network, AV 5-6 or Audio 1-2 by analog connection. For AM/FM radio the antennas must be attached.

Yamaha rx-v800 turns off

Sounds like your receiver has a cold solder joint on the power board at a transistor or capacitor. Not a major repair, however, it will probably run $100 or so to pull it apart, hunt it down and fix the problem. Not sure of your problem with the DVDR. Do you have a "line conditioning, surge protection" unit? Not a Power strip or low end monster surge. Panamax, APC, Furman, make line conditioning surge units that keep your power steady and will shut down in case of voltage fluctuation in both directions. They cost from 200 to 2000 depending on the equipment you are protecting. It is a necessary component to any system. Hope this helps.

Remote does not move volume knob

Unplug the receiver for a minute then plug it back in. This resets the controls. If you still have a problem, post a comment and I will help you troubleshoot further. Hope this helps

No picture from wii

The RX-V800 switches the various video signal types separately.
Since you are feeding S-Video to the TV the composite (yellow) input from your Wii is not going anywhere.
If you cant get S-Video output from the Wii then I'd suggest a simple Composite to S-video adaptor plug ($5 say). It worked for me with a Game Cube.

Yamaha rx-v800 remote control's damaged

it can be accessed via the main unit controls but you need to go through your manuals. Maybe you can get your remote repaired still... maybe not badly damaged caused by corrosion.
