My youngest son broke the black tab off in my right usb for the 360, now neither works or are able to charge the remote. what is the best way to replace or fix this problem?
To save you all the bother of replacing the usb ports, did you know that there is another usb port on the back of the console above the ethernet port, I would just use that one.
Remember thumbs up if this helps.

the LCD in screen is broken I'm afraid at least that's what it sounds like. you will have to have a screen replacement which may not be available or even be expensive.
Yes you can the easiest way is to plug a usb flash drive "at least 1GB" into your xbox 360 find it on settings tab >Storage... format it if it isn't already when it is formated remove from xbox 360 plug both usb flash drive and camera into pc/laptop then copy photos from camera onto usb flash drive. after your finished remove usb flash drive put it back into xbox 360 and you can move them to or from any formatted storage device including you hard drive
There is a sync button next to the Play and Charge port on the controller, all you have to do is press both the sync button on the Xbox and the controller and it should connect.
On the nonslim Xbox 360's the sync button is right next to the infared sensor and the memory card slots.
On the slim Xbox 360 the sync button will be right next to the usb ports on the front of the Xbox 360 console.
When you successfully start the sync the led's for the controller's and console's lights will spin and be ready for you to press the sync button on the other device.
(PS, you have to have both the console and the controller on for this to work; PPS, By controller on I mean having it searching)
The easiest option to update the Xbox 360 hard drive is to connect to Xbox Live. The console will automatically prompt the user to install any available updates. Alternatively, users can download the update files to a USB flash drive to transfer to the Xbox 360 hard drive.
Update via Xbox Live
Open the Xbox 360 dashboard menu. This menu automatically appears when the console is turned on. Press the "Xbox" button, followed by the "Y" button to return to the dashboard menu from a game.
Scroll up to the "My Xbox" tab of the dashboard menu.
Select "System Settings" from the "My Xbox" section of the dashboard. Scroll to the right while the "My Xbox" tab is selected to reach the "System Settings" icon.
Select "Network Settings" from the "System Settings" menu.
Select "Test Xbox Live Connection" from the network settings. A prompt will appear to update the Xbox 360 hard drive if your system is not already updated to the latest version.
Select "Yes, update now" to install the latest updates to your Xbox 360 hard drive.
Updating via USB Flash Drive
Copy the update files onto the root directory of your USB flash drive. You can download the Xbox 360 update files by going to download.microsoft.com/download/1/d/8/1d8c09be-278e-41cd-98be-eb9188128227/$systemupdate9199.zip. You must extract the files from the .zip file before placing them on the USB drive. The update files cannot be placed into a folder or the Xbox 360 system will not recognize them.
Remove the flash drive from your computer.
Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the Xbox 360 console.
Turn on the Xbox 360. An update prompt will appear when the system powers up.
Select "Yes, update now" to update the Xbox 360 hard drive.
Plug your xbox 360 into your laptop with an ethernet cable, turn xbox on, press start, click on network, in the blue tab across the top click on network and sharing centre, on the left hand side click on manage network connections, right click local area connection, click on properties, click on sharing tab, un tick the top box, go to your xbox go on my xbox,go over to your system page and test the connection, this worked first time for me,but I did have issues trying to connect my laptop to the internet when I had done, to resolve this I went onto the network connections page, right click on wireless network, click on diagnose, then reset network adapter this sorted it out.
Hope this helps.
The usb ports are soldered onto the mainboard and would require quite a bit of technical knowlege to replace. You are stuck with wireless controllers and batteries. There are charging stations for xbox 360 controllers on ebay. Most 360's have a USB port on the back above the network port. You could charge with that one. Good Luck
You might want to buy a cooling fan that clips on the back or is like a base that the 360 sets in. My son has one and the unit keeps the 360 cool all night long.
Its laser burn. I have had this. Ask your son if he has tipped the xbox 360 with a game in it as that can cause this. If not the tabs that hold the game in place are broken causing the disc to 'wobble'. If you get the bottom right quadrant illuminate red then contact me personally at: [email protected]
