I am trying to install a Dual XHD6420 stereo in my 1992 Honda Accord LX. It is a stock system (speakers, wiring, etc., no aftermarket amps or accessories).
The new stereo powers on but I get no sound. Its not asking for a code, I can change the volume, change radio station, it will accept a CD but I get no sound. Is there a factory amp in this car?
I have plugged in the old, factory stereo which works so I'm sure the speakers/wiring are good. Is there a way to benchtest the stereo (outside of the car) so I can test whether it is producing a signal for the speakers?
I used an aftermarket wiring adapter to connect the new stereo to the factory wiring. I have checked the wiring, visually and with a digital mulitmeter. I can find no problems.
My car used to have a power antenna but I replaced it with a fixed antenna and capped the unused antenna power wire. The new stereo has a BLUE wire for "remote turn-on" which I thought was to be used for an amplifier or a power antenna, neither of which I have. Does this blue wire need to be connected to work?
One thing I have read is the speakers may have too high an impedance to work with the new stereo. How do I figure whether that's the problem?
Are there any other suggestions?

UPDATE (2/28/2010):
I bought new speakers, while I was at the store I also bought a cheap stereo to test in case the Dual unit wouldn't work with the new speakers.
I bought the Dual stereo online so I contacted them and was able to exchange it.
After I got the new Dual unit, I wired only the red, yellow, black wires and one speaker. Same thing, it would power on (lights turned on) but no sound. I did the same with the factory stereo and the cheap stereo, both worked like they're supposed to.
I don't know if I just had bad luck with the Dual brand or if I wired the unit wrong. In any case, I now have four new speakers and a stereo that makes sound.
Thank you for the help and advice.
