I see that other is experience the same problem and said they change out 4 caps at the power supply. Can you please direct me to where the 4 caps are on the circuit board and the value of the caps so that I can change them.

Thanks.

I was given a Manager special at Radio shake for mothers day gift, in 2007 just a few weeks ago I wanted to turn the tv on and it would come on but I could not get a picture. After several attempts of pushing the on/off button I finnally got a picture. now the green light on the adaptor box just blinks. How do I fix theses problems?

I also have the problem of TV coming on for a few minutes and then video goes out. I have call 1-800 number listed and awaiting response. Has any had any success with this fix?

I have the same problem also. The picture comes on for a few seconds, and then "poof" goes off. The sound is still going, however. Is this problem fixable?

My TV comes on, and after a few seconds, the picture goes out. The sound is still going.

I'm having the same problem. Picture comes on for a few seconds and then goes black. Once the picture is black there are no menu's or any other image from any input. Sound is still working.

Where are these 4 capacitors people are talking about?

  • jaybeesys Feb 21, 2009

The TV Powers on, shows the picture for 10 seconds, screen goes black and the sound continues.

If you bought your TV at Costco, you may want to call their free Concierge Service at 1-866-861-0450. They had me take it to an electronics repair facility that determined it was the AC adapter that can no longer be replaced. They then asked me to take the TV back to the Costco warehouse, where the manager gave me a reduced credit to buy a new TV. I did not have to put out any money for any of this.

Costco stands behind their electronics, much like Sears did with its merchandise a long time ago when it was a real store. I will probably only purchase electronics from Costco, because of my experience.

These TVs go through power supplies like crasy. You need a new power supply. When you get a new power supply the voltage needs to be the same. 12VDC or 19VDC. Check the back of the TV. The amps need to be equal or greater than ther TV requires. It will draw the amps it needs. If you have too few amps you will get a dim screen. Too many volts and you have no more tv. this is DC so the + and - matters. you can get one at the big box electronics store for $100 plus or online for about $20.

Call 800-726-4405 for the adapter - if they do not have the part, have them email the parts manager in the corp office

I have the same TV,but mine doesn't turn on at all. This is the first one that I have worked on so far that the bad capacitors were not so obvious. Most of them the tops were bulged,or the bottom of them had the rubber plug sticking out.But this one only has five standard capacitors, that all look good, and around thirty surface mount silver ones.I had bought an ESR meter, and according to that,at least half of them are bad.So until I get some replacements,I won't know if that is the problem.Maybe you can answer a question for me.I need a power adapter for mine. For now I would like to use a laptop adapter to test it out with. The TV says it requires 19V,and has two positive pins, and two negative pins according to a picture I found online. What I need to know is if both of the positive pins have the full 19V going to them,or one of them has a lower voltage for like a standby. That, and if it is AC,or DC.Any help is greatly appreciated.Thank You very much!

Akai LCT2060

This is a mean problem, and I feel for anyone who has it.

This can be caused by a bad power board, a bad main board or a lcd LCD panel.

An authorized repair shop would be able to substitute the main and power boards to find the source of the fault, but you don't have that luxury.

Unless you want to risk paying for an expensive part you don't need, I would suggest you take it to an Akai repair shop.

I would replace the entire inverter board. Picking and choosing will cost more.

AKAI 20 INCH lcd MODEL #LCT2060

This is an indication that one of the components in the screen control sections has a thermal instability problem. This canusually be found using a product called cool mist which is a component cooling spray. This lowers the compenent temperature and allows you to see which component has the problem. Also you may want to if you are able try to use a voltmenter and a schematic to trace the problem down once you know which component is giving you the problem.
