I cannot remember if the tools menu is embedded in the properties of the printer driver. The previous poster I believe is correct. If it does not appear, go to start, run, all programs, then select the HP or Hewlett Packard section and look for an HP Toolbox or similar utility that will have options for cleaning/aligning/testing the printer..

The best way for you to do is go to control panel and click on printers... if your printer is installed in your computer it'll appear after you click on the printers... then right click or double click your printer model icon.... your cleaning utility will appear on your screen after....

Go to "Printers and Faxes" in the control panel, right click on the correct printer, select "printing preferences," then "features," then "printer services." A window will open and choose "clean the print catridges." You may clean it several times if need be.

Anyone know how to clear a clogged print head in an Epson PP-100 Discproducer disc printer? I’ve tried using the utility software but it’s still clogged. Can I syringe cleaning fluid into the tube? Can...

The very last resort is to syringe fluid into the print heads, often that will damage the heads and require head replacement. Head replacement likely will cost more than your printer. Repeated utility cleaning, "under head" cleaning with alcohol/ammonia can help.

Can I remove & clean the print head on an Epson printer?

i've tried to remove it from the sliders and to have it soaked in alcohol for about 10 hours without any luck. It is too much work without any guarantee. I suggest to junk it and get a new one (if possible with heads on the cartridges so they are replaced with each refill)

I am trying to print wedding invitations and a black line prints down the left side of the envelope. I have tried cleaning the printer, but it has not helped. Do you have any suggestions? My printer is...

Black printer ink in HP Printers may fail to be recognized by the printer. Sometimes the printer may accept to print with the black ink, but the printouts may have horizontal lines and very illegible letters. Even though you've run the cleaning utility on the printer, a manual cleaning of the print head should be carried out. In doing the manual cleaning, one should spray Windex heavily on paper towel and wipe off the surface of the print head.

Problem with printhead please consult user guide

Use the printer's utility program to self-clean the printer. This process may need to be repeated as many as 5 to 10 times. Often this will resolve the problem.

Turn the printer off, preferably overnight, if the self-cleaning utility has not worked. The ink may need to soften before the self-cleaning utility will be successful. Turn the printer on and try the self-cleaning utility again several times.

Determine from the owner's manual where the print head is located. Epson printers, for example, are usually in the printer. Many other brands place the print head in the cartridge.

Remove the cartridge. For models where the print head is in the printer, drop seven to 10 drops of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) down the ink receptacle area. This is the hole where the ink flows into the head from the cartridge. Run a few self-cleaning utilities. If necessary, allow to sit a few hours or overnight and repeat the self-cleaning utility.

Soak the cartridge print head in hot water if the print head is in the cartridge. Allow to soak overnight. Dry the print head area with a paper towel. Repeat the self-cleaning utility.

Place the cartridge print head in isopropyl alcohol if the hot water soak did not unclog the print head. Leave the print head covered in alcohol overnight. Use a damp paper towel to wipe off the print head area. Dry carefully. Try the self-cleaning utility again.

Purchase a new cartridge if the alcohol soak did not unclog the print head in the cartridge. This will provide new print heads that won't be clogged. Contact a service technician for repair of print heads in the printer if the alcohol did not unclog the print head.

I suspect that the black printer head is clogged up, is that seomething that I can repair myself?

Yes you can repair by trying the following steps:-

This is the hole where the ink flows into the head from the cartridge. Run a few self-cleaning utilities. If necessary, allow to sit a few hours or overnight and repeat the self-cleaning utility.

Hope it helps, if so do rate the solution

My printer won't print anything - only blank pages. However, both ink cartridges have ink. Please help!

If the self-cleaning cycle does not solve the problem, try turning the printer off overnight to allow the ink to soften. Turn the printer on the next day and try printing a test pattern to see whether the problem has either disappeared or become less noticeable. This ink-saving procedure can work effectively because sometimes the dried ink on the print head needs time to soften before the printer head can be cleaned completely. Try running the self-cleaning utility again one or more times.
Steps for Manually Cleaning the Printer Head

If the overnight cleaning still does not work, there may be a layer of thick ink that is blocking the holes of the printer's head. The next option is to manually clean the printer head. Follow these steps:

* Determine from the owner's manual where the print head is located.
* Remove the ink cartridge from your printer and then dip a cotton swab in hot water or isopropyl alcohol and rub it against the print head. This should loosen any crusted ink. NOTE: Be careful, especially if you use isopropyl alcohol to clean your print heads: Some printers use rubber gaskets, and if you get isopropyl alcohol on the gaskets it could dry them out.
* For models where the print head is in the printer, drop 7 to 10 drops of isopropyl alcohol (91% denatured isopropyl alcohol - not 'rubbing' alcohol) down the ink receptacle area where the ink actually flows from the cartridge into the head. Run a few self-cleaning utilities. If possible, allow the printer to sit a few hours or overnight and repeat the self-cleaning utility.
* If the print head is in the cartridge, soak the cartridge print head in hot water. Allow it to soak overnight. Dry the print head area with a paper towel. Repeat the self-cleaning utility.
* If the hot water soak did not unclog the print head, place the cartridge printer head in isopropyl alcohol and allow it to soak overnight. Use a damp paper towel to wipe off the print head area and dry carefully. Try the self-cleaning utility again.
* If the alcohol soak did not unclog the print head in the cartridge you may need to purchase a new cartridge. This will provide new print heads that won't be clogged. Contact a service technician for repair of print heads in the printer if the alcohol did not unclog the printer head.

Does not print

Hi,
First of all please check the ink level. If it is not finished try followings:

First try to run a cleaning cycle. To do that:
- Load paper in the paper tray. - Access printer utilities. (Right click your printer icon, select printing preferences and click the utility tab to access printer utilities) - Click the nozzle check icon. - Print to check it.
Then click the clean button to clean the print head. - Try it a few times.
İf it doesn't help you can try to run power cleaning cycle. But it uses much ink. There must be enough ink in the cartridge.
Hope this helps.

I'm using a Canon BJC-85 bubble jet printer, I changed a new ink, but the printing quality is very poor. Can anyone help?

Try to run the head cleaning utility of your printer. The printer cartridges may be clogged and this can easily be resolved by at least a couple of runs on the head cleaning utility.
