Just got cq56-115dx laptop this morning. turned it off after setting it up. Turned it back on and only have blank screen. Power shows lit up.

Hi.

Remove the AC power (charger) and then take the battery out. Plug in just the AC power supply and turn the laptop on, see if it boots up and shows a display on-screen. If it boots let it boot up and then shut it down as normal. Reinsert the battery and try as normal.
If you still get a blank screen can you then tell me if you get any post (splash) information like the Compaq Presario logo before it goes blank.

Good luck.

Toshiba a210: Powers up on both battery and power source. When powered on the caps lock blinks green most of the time but not always. Display does not come on at all, no blinking, flickering, or...

Just out of curiosity, you haven't got a usb device plugged in as you are booting the laptop have you?
If not, try this:

Remove battery, unplug power, hold power button for 60 seconds, turn on computer with power plug only, then shutdown, add battery and restart

If that fails to work, check that the charger indicator light is not flickering, this indicates that the power is not completing the circuit (damaged power capacitors/ fault on motherboard.

Are you using a genuine Toshiba charger, these laptops are prone to breaking down if an aftermarket one is used, a non-genuine one can damage the motherboard as well.

How many blinks does the caps lock make? Flashing caps lock is usually a sign that the Ram may be failing. You can try replacing the Ram modules to see if it boots, also, a dying hard drive will prevent booting, remove and see if that allows the laptop to power up

After that, I'd suspect the motherboard is damaged and will need replacing

The power lights on the lap top are blinking every 5 seconds and the screen is blank

lights blinking means your laptop is restarting after every 5 seconds. Your lappy might have gpu( graphics processing unit ) dry solder connection problem. I would get it looked at because it could also be a heat problem

My toshiba satellite L300 has no power

Please follow these steps VERY CAREFULLY:

1) Unplug the notebook from the ac adapter (charger power cord)

2) Take off the battery pack on the notebook

3) Once the ac adapter and battery is off the notebook, hold down the power button for 15 seconds

4) After 15 seconds, let go of the power button

5) Now plug in the AC ADAPTER (OR CHARGER POWER CORD) ONLY (DO NOT PUT BACK THE BATTERY PACK)

6) Now press the power button once.

7) If the unit boots, the unit suffered a slight surge

8) If the unit does not boot and remains dead, the unit suffered a severe surge and may be burned out and needs replacing

I hope this helps and let me know how it goes afterwards

Battery indicator keeps fluctuating to 4hrs to 6hrs back to 4hrs then 8hrs every 5 mins or so i have acer A0532H with windows 7

first of all let me ask how old is the battery, if it`s new-discharge the battery until pc shuts down itself because of low battery, remove the battery , unplug AC charger from laptop, wait for 5 minutes, then hold power button for 5 full seconds, wait another 5 minutes, then put battery and ac charger on , don`t turn on laptop yet, wait until battery indicator shows that battery fully charged, then remove AC charger, and turn on laptop. P.S. you can try this on old battery too, but usually worthless, because old batteries are not recognizable by system currectly ..

Seems to be a problem of not enough power.

First check the voltage output of the charger(adapter) and match it with its specs.

Also try to reset the hardware using the following steps:

1 Disconnect battery and the charger
2 Let it sit for 1-2 minutes.
3 Press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
4 Reconnect battery and charger and try to start by pressing the power button.
