Motor seized Plugged in fan and turned on switch and got 3 sizzling sounds and no action from the motor to turn the blades. Can I order a replacement motor for this fan U2-1487-203? If so what is the cost? Again, the motor sent out sparks and then nothing.

Check to see if one of your deck spindles isn't seized. Disengage the blades and turn each blade to see if its free. Sounds like either a spindle is seized or your electric clutch on the motor has a problem.

Removing blade will not do it - there has to be an obstruction in the drive mechanism that prevents it from turning. Leave off till fixed lest you risk burning out the motor completely. Turn on AFTER you can turn the blade freely.

1) Turn the machine over and remove the large screw in the bottom. The chassis will then slide out (I assume you've already done this in order to reach the fan shaft.)
2) Firmly pull on the fan blades near the center in order to pull them free of the shaft.
3) Turn the chassis on its back, so the fan shaft points up. Drip a small amount of lightweight oil (sewing machine, hair clipper, 3-in-1) on the shaft and turn it manually to work the oil down the shaft. Continue doing this if you feel the shaft loosening up.
4) Set the chassis upright, tilt it forward, and drip a small amount of oil on the rear opening to the fan shaft. Continue manually turning the shaft and tilting the machine to work the oil in.
5) Replace the fan blades and turn on the machine, depressing the safety switch manually, to see if the fan will begin to turn.
If it won't turn, it might mean that the fan motor is entirely seized up. You may be able to find a local small appliance repair person who could replace that motor.

1. Tighten the setscrew in the motor coupling.

This will take some work, and some elbow grease, but what happened is the motor bushings most likely seized. Try turning the blades with your hand. If they are stiff, the bushings are seized. What you will have to do is take the fan apart. First by removing the blades, then by taking the motor off of the frame. Then depending on the type of bolts/ screws that hold the motor together, remove them. Then split the motor apart by taking a flat blade screwdriver and sliping it between the two pieces of the motor and turning it so they slip apart. then once the motor is apart, shine up and clean the motor's shaft so it is clcan and shiny. then do the same for the bushing/ beringholes in the motor's casing. then drip some oil in the berings, and on the motor shaft, and put the motor back together. then put it back on the frame, and plug the fan in. turn it on. the shaft should just spin without any help. if this does spin, put the blades back on, and put the guard back on. Then you sucessfully rebuilt the motor and the fan!

Check the back wall of the freezer section for any ice buildup. This would be from a failure to defrost and requires parts.
