    Where is the last button, i have the same problem the sound cuts out after 20mins. I go onto Menu audio and turn off sound out when playing game but then there is no sound till turned on again.

    I, too, have the same problem - no sound. I purchase my tv 2 1/2 years ago and paid over $1400. I was told by Dell Authorized Services, located in Ohio, that they can fix it - they can get the part but cannot sell it to consumers. The cost of sending the tv to Ohio plus the cost of repair would be more than purchasing a new tv. I was told my the three people in India to junk the tv.

    Lastly, I cannot find the addresses of the executive officers at Dell - and, it is a public company. Their treatment and concern of customers is unbelievable - I will never purchase another Dell product.

    Dell 32' LCD TV

    Just today my TV also has no sound....it crackled for a bit and then went out....its just 2 years old last month....

    What a piece of junk...I paid $1600.00 for this TV 2 years ago...
    I have it hooked up to a separate receiver, but would like to find parts to fix it.

    We just got done watching a movie tonight and switched back over to the TV input. NO SOUND. Tried DVD, no sound. Turned the TV off and started to smell burning plastic. Soundboard is fried! Apparently these Dell LCD HDTV's have a 2 1/2 year expiration. What a piece of crap.

    File under Dell 37 inch LCD TV problems, tell your friends to google it, find this article and get the word out these things are junk. Force a recall!

    I also have a w3201c 32 lcd tv, a little over two years old, with a bad sound board. I have contacted many suppliers and are told that sound board is no longer made by Dell. Apparently Dell no abandoned the product --it longer supplies parts.

    Hi, I also have a Dell w3201c 32 lcd tv....it started crackling and popping in the speakers about 1 month ago...then 2 days ago left side went out and today both are gone....no sound at all and my t.v. is not even 2 years old and I paid about $1600...I'm totally p****d!!!!

    I have the same TV for about 2 years, I also called and spoke to India people, they swear the are part of Dell Corp, after few hours on the phone with them, then transferred to Dell Tech support, then to Dell customer service, I brought the TV to a local TV repair shop. They were the only ones that were even willing to look at it, After 3 weeks , they told me this is happing to all these W3201C sound cards, Phillips is the manufactuer who made this board for Dell. what happens is the potective covering the used over the sound board, heats up and after time it is corroding the sound board. Then I e-mailed BBB, I got a call from Dell, support , after many phone calls, She finally just told me they were willing to give me a $100 gift card for any Dell Products, YEH like I would be another Dell product again, for a large company they sure Abandon there customers

    Same TV...paid the same 2 years ago tomorrow. Speakers were popping, left one is out...now the right one is going out. We will have to purchase speakers to go with the TV in the output thingys. We're thinking surround sound but I hope nothing else breaks. We called and they didn't help us either. I think we won't be purchasing anything from DELL again. Bummer because they are so speedy with deliveries! :0(

    mines a w3706mc just over 2 years old started to crackle through speakers now no sound at all, I paid £1600 pounds and it is now a very expensive ornament, dell customer service is by far the worst i have ever known, firstly it is very diificult to understand there foriegn call centre people and is impossible to speak to customer services, total bunch of useless idiots who dont deserve to be in business

    I have the 37 inch. Fortunately I still get sound through cable and component and composite. If I hook up HDMI, I don't get any sound. This is the second TV with this problem. First one was DOA second one lasted that magic 2.3 years (just out of warranty) timeline. I called and they told me to send it to their out of warranty repair. Too bad it would cost more than buying a new one from a better company. I guess the best solution is to run everything through a home theater system. I wonder if there will be any kind of class action lawsuit. Their business practices seem criminal to me.

    I just e-mailed with the same problem. I have a 32" Dell LCD and the sound board went on it also, can't get the part, and think this is totally ********. I have someone who can fix the tv for me -- it is only 3 years old. I have to send it to Ohio (their servicing center) and I didn't even ask how much that would cost. Twice Dell sent me the wrong parts. First they sent me speakers and I had to get a refund, and then they sent me a sound board for a computer and now won't give me a refund because it is over 30 days and I was in the hospital. I'm calling again today.

    For whatever its worth I also have the same problem. I get complete understanding through Dell's Indian support and some company in Ohio.
    It costs $262.50 fixed price labor to repair through the Dell 3rd party regardless of what's wrong, plus approximately $200 for the part---they told me it probably needed the whole main board, plus $160 to ship it from Dallas. I won't do it because other things will go wrong, of course. In addition, the support people told me that the sound board used on this tv, will not be sold to anyone except the Ohio facility. They are "hoarding" them because they have stopped manufacturing it and "don't want to run out". They admit other brands of sound board may work, but anyone who knows Dell knows this is highly unlikely.

    Glad to see I am not the only one having this same problem. I have been on the phone with Dell Tech Tv support and haven't gotten any where! I have a 32" LCD bought 2 years ago and the sound is cracking and I bought a surround sound system thinking using a different input would work and it did for about 10 mins. then back to the cracking and cutting out. Can't even believe that the best answer they have is sir it is out of warranty! I don't give a F*** that it's out of warranty. I just got rid of a TV from 1983 that worked just fine! I told them I want to talk to there supervisor and that didn't get me anywhere so I told them I want to talk to there manager. They say a manger is going to call me on Friday between 10-12. They are going to get an earful. Don't ever buy a Dell product. I see why they got rid of all the mall stores! They don't want angry customers protesting.

    On my second Dell LCD TV with same problem. Luckily, the first was still under warranty and I'm visually impaired and needed it for the PIP so I can even see my computer desktop with the VGA. They replaced it after a nightmare round of phone calls and shipping back and forth of them sending me the WRONG replacement TV for it. Now my second one has no sound and I don't even want to deal with Dell this time (plus this one is no longer under warranty). Can someone tell me what is a "in wall amp", where I can get one, how to hook it up, will the remote control still control the volume? Right now I've hooked cheap computer speakers up to the Directv satellite receiver with a splitter. The sound is terrible (but at least works) but I can't control the volume with the remote, nor can I mute it, and when I turn off the TV, the sound is still on because it's coming from the sat receiver and not the TV.

    Please help. I am having the same problem. I can not handle any more time on the phone with DELL. I cant even find a tv repair man to look at it. I would rather pull my hair out, strand by strand. Can we do any thing? Something needs to be done. I have spent too much money on this tv and too much time attempting to get it fixed. I have a Dell 32 inch LCD, 3 yrs old. I know I need a soundboard, but cant get/find one. Yes, I have tried EVERYTHING to get sound. This whole thing is so WRONG, why are they(DELL) getting away with it!

    Fell has s defect with this TV. It should be recalled. It is not fair we all have the same issue. I never used the dell speakers. When I got a new( not Dell) TV I tried to hook up. Same problem as everyone that purchased this TV. I am going to call the FTC and find out why they are not recalling these sets!

The solution I found was to run the sound through my surround sound, eliminating the tv speakers all together. Works like a champ and saves me a ton of money!

I just took the sound cables coming out of my satellite box, and hooked them to my stereo receiver. Surround Sound and all is fine. Yes, it adds a remote, but it saves $800 and the sound is better.
I would love to be part of a class action suit against Dell, should someone wish to do this. I think the design, phone help, and hateful manner the service is being provided is unbelievable.

    How do I do that??? I have a Dell surround sound and the cables don't match up with anything on the tv!!! This is SO frustrating!!! I've purchased 2 different adapters with the promise that it would work... Nope!!!

Good news for all of you, I have just fixed mine by installing an in wall amp (this amp is 20 watts per channel and is this size of a double wall socket) so you can just put behind the tv, it comes with cable to run from audio out and you need nothing else, even remote volume works perfect costs about £80.00 and ois much cheaper than having it repaired, PS if anyone wants to get together and make a claim against DELL count me in I hate this company, Customer service is not something they understand I so hope they go out of business as they deserve to

I too have the same problem 2 Years old and crackles then sound dissapears altogether, I paid £1600 for this and can truly say dell must be the worst ever Customer service, and would never deal with them again, its really wrong how a business is allowed to survive with service like this, wish there was one centrel place where all dell complaints could be logged and read, they would be deservedly out of business in weeks

Dell sucks-- when you call you get some dot head in India who has no idea what you are talking about. I called the corp office and got a member of the presidents expediting team. After numerous calls she finally told me that Dell does not sell parts and if the TV is in warranty they will replace it. If not they will you a new one at a discount. BFD. I contacted the FTC because I beleive that they must sell parts for seven years. Will see what happens - feel free to contact me if you want the phone numbers.
One solution is to use a separate amp from the audio output jacks. Use a cheap stereo amp.

    Thanks for the tip. By running the cable sound off an aux amp I've at least salvaged some sound and not had to toss the 4K TV

I have another solution to this problem
get any wall radio/cd ( walmart have some cheap one )player with aux inputs and connect the speaker to it and the cable to the audio out in the tv
then on the Audio menu change to fixed so you can use the regular control to balance volume
the radio/cd player will do the job of the amplifier

My Dell 32in. LCD TV, model W3201C no longer produces any sound.

That was indeed the sound module. I spent hours trying to find a replacement for my Dell TV. There was one on eBay for over $100.00, I decided to remove my speakers and install a low cost sound bar from Radio Shack. Easy to install and sounds fine. Several techs told me those boards are a problem along with every other board in those sets and since the Dell is low quality to begin with, I wouldn't spend the money. Go with the sound bar and buy a real TV next time. I'll go Samsung or Sony when mine finally dies for good.

the problem is the audio amp board has been fried. It needs to be replaced. This will restore the actual sound transfer to and from the speakers.

Dell 32 inch LCD Tv volume and menue problems

We also have a 32" LCD Dell flat screen tv #W3201C that has no sound. It's about 2/12 yrs old. One speaker started having a problem and we disconnected it. That was a couple weeks ago, now there is no sound at all. Dell should not be let off the hook so easily. Obviously there is a problem with the tv and it should be Dell's responsibility to make it right. Does anyone know if a class action suit has been initiated?

Dell W3201C: No picture, No sound

Have the same model and same problem
probably It is a bad inverter board, in my case one of the 16 transformers is burnt out on the inverter board. still trying to find a replacement component. if not replacing the board is the only option or getting the inverter board repaired.

by the way, this TV has a Samsung panel: model LTA320W2-L03. so it needs parts for a Samsong not a DELL.
DELL does not manufacture or fix them becuase they don't make them

Screen Blackout

Don't bother with DELL if out of warranty, they can't fix it. Have the same model and same problem
