Where is meter reading on canon imageRunner C5180i color copier?

Hi sophie,
Look to the far right of the operator contol panel, past the 9 key pad and you will see a "little button" called COUNTER check. Press it and it will tell you your meter reading. This screen can be configured "by a service tech" to allow you to view the count of up tp 6 different meter counts depending on the function you wish to monitor. The basic meter reading is named "101". That because there are hundreds of funtions that are always monitored and they name them 101,102,103 etc. 101 counts the number of sheets of paper that have exited the copier. "102" does the same except it counts 11x17 [ledger] as 2 copies as 11x17 is really 2 letter size sheets. So my company uses this meter for billing purposes so we ADD the 102 meter to the list of viewable meters. Again this can be configured to the customers needs or the service provider needs. You can set it to view just black and white, just color, or even how many copies were made at 64%. its wild. But the 101 meter is the default and cannot be removed or altered. I sure how I helped you. Please let "FIXYA" know. The pat me on the head when I do good. :-) Take care . SPINAL

When checking the meter reading on my canon ir c5185, there are the following codes before the totals: 101 102 108 230 321 322. Can you tell me their meanings?

Hello joe, hope you are well.Canon copiers have literally hundreds of "meters " that the device is constantly monitoring.Things like the number of 11x17 scans, reports printed, incoming faxes, outgoing faxes, prints at 600 dpi....etc.Its wild. The device is capable of displaying to the customer a total of six meters. The displayed meters may be customized for the customer by a technician as per the customers request or needs. Each meter is named by a number, for example "101".That particular meter indicates the total of how many sheets of paper(regardless of size) that have successfully exited the machine.102 meter indicates the total number of sheets that have been output using 8.5 X 11' as the basis. So a sheet of 11x17 paper would increment the 101 meter once, but the 102 meter would "click" twice. For billing purposes my company keeps an eye on the 102 meter to maximize profit,as it should be.Now how Canon determined the display of the other meters you see is a mystery.Again there is a meter named 958,which is the number of documents scanned to the MAILBOX. So, to completely answer your question: 108 is the total black and white copies made regardless of size.230 is just color and monocolor regardless of size.321 is{your gonna love this one}color prints on 11x17.322 is color prints on 8.5x11.So there ya' go! TMI city!!! Hope this helps.

How do you tell how many copies have been made

Hi, there are two ways of taking meter reading.
  1. Simply press and hold 0 key till you see six digits and write them down. For example 000,654 means that it has copied 654 copies since you bought it .If you hold # key as above, you will see the number printed if you use a printer. The difference between the two is the printed copies.
  2. The other is the command mode where you press command 22 enter 05 enter and read the copies.

FIND THE METER

Hold down the C key for a few seconds. You will get sets of numbers flashing. Put them together for the meter. So an 09 followed by an 60 then a 70 would be a meter reading of 96, 070 copies.

Meter reading

2 ways to check the meter.

press the user tools button on the op panel. on the screen press counter. you can either view the counter on the screen, or press print counter, and it will give you a hard copy.

the 2nd way is to look behind the front cover, probably behind a piece of tape, on the right side, about half way down.

Setting the meter reading

Resetting the copy count is frowned upon. Changing the meter is like changing the milage on you car, when you sale it......... Just sell it as used or even better reconditioned.

Canon NP 6050 Copier - number of copies

I would say that is not the correct meter. The meter is only 6 digits long, maybe 7 it's been awhile scine I looked at one. You probly have a meter of 0136012. There is only one hard counter / meter in the copier. It's not even the serial number?? Good luck
