Hello i'm trying to figure out how to replace and reinstall my riccar model 8955 vacuum. the manual isn't showing me how

Remove the screws holding the bottom plate on. Remove bottom plate. If it's an 8955 or model with clutch to shut off the brush roll remove the rod that goes from the lever to the clutch. Look closely how the rod and brush roll are positioned in the vacuum so you can reinstall it the same way. Remove the brush roll and install the new belt and then put back together as it was.

Recline the handle backward. There are two little catches on the filter cover, pull them to remove the cover. Remove the filter and replace.

Remove the bag door cover, remove the screws holding the cover over the switch and wires coming into the body of the vacuum. Remove two screws holding the cord in place, unhook the old cord and install the new one the same way the old on was

Your model can last well over 20 years. You might be able to change. The. Brushes yourself but there are adjustments that are difficult to do properly by the average homeowner. It. Would be best to talk to a qualified. Riccar repair technician before you attempt to change the brush strips.

Here's a very helpful repair that I did exactly for your problem on how to replace the belt on your Riccar. Your model, the 8955 is more difficult then other models due to the rug/floor selector knob. No worries though, I explained this step by step with pictures.

The reset button on the Riccar 8955 is located on the back of the vacuum cleaner, at the very bottom, right above the rear wheels. You can push the reset button with a ball point pen or something similar.

The reset button on your model 8955 is in the back, on the left side at the bottom. It is a white button
