Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague I would suggest not to try to use the TV until the problem is solved becuase more damages can result. Please post back what you find.
Problem Solved, I replaced the third capacitor (the same mf and V as the other two) and now it works great. I'd like to say "Thanks" to all of the folks who had a helping hand in this one!
Yep. Symptoms could be anything from high-pitched hum to no picture at all. On these defective models, I would start at the caps and work back. It won't hurt to replace them anyway.
