2 vertical bars appeared on near middle of screen with lights flickering, blocking the normal view of programs. Sometimes the bars are transparent but sometimes they are black or semi-transparent. The 2 vertical bars stay no matter what we watch, normal digital tv,dvd, or Wii or other player.
If your TV has a signal out , then try to send the signal to another screen/tv/laptop/monitor
If the bars still appear then most likely your have a failing video card as the unit can not produce video normally to any screen or display
If the picture looks normal on the external screen, then most likely the actual LCD panel is faulty or it could be a faulty connector
I am not a TV expert but these are generally the troubleshooting steps for computers
OPEN THE TV AND BLOW IT OUT ..THOSE BARS ARE THE EFFECT OF DUST INSIDE THE UNIT CLEAN OUT AS WELL AS YOU CAN AND THAT SHOULD FIX
YOUR PROBLEM

SOURCE: Vertical line
Sorry, you have a defective LCD panel. If your TV is still under warranty, contact Sharp to get the TV exchanged. Otherwise, LCD panels cost more than the TV is worth.
SOURCE: Line in middle of LCD screen
I too had a black line horizontally across the screen (on a 52" d62). It was brand new and was as if the screen had been "pinched" at the end of the line and it radiated outward (in my case, the "pinch" was at the extreme left and line went out to the right, like a crack).
Mine was a factory defect (right out of the box) and was replaced (2 yr now and no issues). This line of yours may have been there from the start and maybe you just didn't notice it?? Not a slam, just an observation.
