We are getting a black edge on one side of the copies since we replaced the toner cartridge on our Lanier 5645 copier. The toner cartridge does not stay attached after turning it clockwise per the directions and the toner is spilling out in the machine. Does anyone know what we are doing wrong?

Remove the toner/drum cartridge. Carefully rotate the drum, via the end with gear, to check the edges for toner spots like appear on the copies. If located on drum, GENTLY wipe off with a dry cotton ball. Reinstall cartridge. Check to see that spots are gone. If spots reappear, replace with new cartridge (drum most likely damaged)
It could be that the black developer unit is clogged. The toner low sensor is located in the black developer unit. A trained copier tech may be needed to troubleshoot this.
Its probably a defective toner. If the film on the toner drum is scratched it can cause toner to stick to the drum everytime it spins causing the constant marks.
