Most pumps arent made to be rebuilt and should just be replaced , its not worth fixing something and have it just go bad again.

On inside of the impeller there you will see 5 holes around radius. Keep motor shaft from rotating and if you can with nail set (tight inside) tap counter clockwise and it will come off. I broke my impeller because I had no idea how it came off. Then I was able to take off how explained.

Goulds j5s keeps shutting on and off repeatedly the n cuts off before over heating.

  1. Check the suction line for blockages or kinks: Make sure that the suction line is clear and that there are no blockages or kinks in the line that could prevent the pump from priming.
  2. Check the impeller: Make sure that the impeller is not clogged or damaged, as this can prevent the pump from priming.
  3. Check the voltage: Make sure that the voltage to the pump is within the specified range.
  4. Check the pressure switch: Ensure that the pressure switch is functioning correctly and that the pressure switch cut-out is set to the correct pressure.

Our goulds pumps j5s is running very loud after we replaced our sewage ejection pump last week. Could these problems be connected?

Those pumps last a long time. I do not think the problems are connected. I am assuming you are pumping water up from the pump. The pump has a check valve in the discharge that may not be closing. Cleaning that should solve your problem. Be sure water will pass through the discharge line into the drain.

Impeller

J5s is a back pull out. Remove the bolts holding the front casing to the motor. Remove the diffuser. The impeller will either be screwed on. ie the impeller is moulded with a thread, or key wayed .ie a separate metal nut holds down the Noryl impeller and a small piece of "key" steel keeps the impeller on the shaft.
Remove the rear fan cover, and either use a flat screw driver (if there is a slot in the rear of the shaft) or a shifter (if the shaft has a hex) or you may have to prise the fan off. to get a good hold of the shaft.
Hold the rear of the shaft, and with the correct socket undo the hex on the impeller. either the nut or the whole impeller will come off. If just the nut type. Use cable ties to thread down the centre of the impeller to the out side and join. do this in a couple of places.Use these as a lever point to pull off the impeller.
The seal just pulls off. there is two parts stationary and rotating.( 18th may, yourve probably worked it out by now)

I am having difficulty removing the impeller on my Polaris PB4 Booster pump. I removed the seal plate and held the motor and attempted to turn the impeller counterclockwise. Can't get the impeller to...

For an impeller really stuck on the motor shaft you need to pull the motor thru-bolts and remove the rotor with the pump still attached from the stator. Lock the rotor in a vice and turn the impeller off with a large set of channel locks or a large strap wrench.

NOISY WHEN DRAINING ON OCCASION

This is a sign of a faulty drain pump impeller. the drive shaft that is connected to the impeller is stripping the impeller. you will eventually need to replace the entire pump soon.

Pump disassembly

I removed the impeller on my DW761UQB. The instructions were molded into the plastic pump housing. This is how I DID MINE: Remove motor mount screws. Remove the chopper screw (screw only goes into impeller, not motor shaft). Remove chopper and rotate/remove strainer. Place socket or wrench on impeller tip and place another wrench on rear of motor's plastic fan. Unscrew fan from impeller shaft ( threads are LEFT handed, turn CW). Once fan is 'backed off' of the impeller, CAREFULLY pry the motor/fan from pump housing (impeller is attached to motor shaft via splines). Don't crack the delicate plastic pump housing. Mine was stuck, but separated with moderate force. Now remove the impeller/seals from the pump housing. This worked for MY above mentioned model, I don't know what other models it applies to. I am not a pro.

F2 problem

f2 is usually and indication of drain problems usually something in pump ..have seen impeller on pump shaft come loose and freewheel..remove pump completely 3-4 screws hold pump motor to housing remove them try turning impeller if impeller spins free replace pump ..impeller will usually have some resistance when turned by hand..a free spin on impeller indicates it has come free of motor shaft
