My New Garmin Nuvi 1400 will not turn on - it just gets to the screen "Loading maps" and then the screen goes black. I have tried the suggested holding down the power button for 10 seconds, but nothing changes.

My Garmin Nuvi 1490 was on for five or six hours driving then the screen went dark and now unit will not turn on or light up screen at all ? ANY HELP OUT THERE ?

    There is NO RESET button on a NUVI 1490. The on/off switch acts as a reset button, but one must hold it down for 10 seconds or more to reset the unit, since there is no way to remove the battery ?

    This reset worked for me and unit came back on and now works ???

Garmin Nuvi 1250 stuckin "loading maps" screen
I just plugged my 1350 in (had exact same problem) into computer and deleted the GPX (trip log) and it finally started back up. Deleted all of the favorites and such but it working again.

Problem solved: I got through to Tech Support. They suggested a 'hard reset', which solved the problem: Put you finger on the lower right screen while you power up and it will do a hard reset---and it will get past the "loading maps" screen, where it had been stuck.
