Once you get the top off, there are 2 thermostats on the top of the boiler. Your looking for the thermostat that is on the front of the boiler with the red button . Push the red button. If that didn't work check the ohms reading on the element. It should read 12 - 16 ohms. If it doesn't replace the element. Also did you try to turn on the steam button? Sometimes the thermostat with the red dot on it goes bad. If it will steam just replace the brew thermostat.

Rancilio Classe 7 / can not program right-side buttons

Hello Olaf. If you are experiencing difficulties programming the right-side buttons on your Rancilio Classe 7 espresso machine, there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue: 1. Reset the Machine: Start by performing a full machine reset. Turn off the machine and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches and restore the programming functionality. 2. Check Button Connections: Ensure that the buttons on the right side are properly connected and securely in place. If any of the buttons feel loose or have poor contact, it may prevent proper programming. Gently press each button to ensure they are seated correctly. 3. Clean the Buttons: Sometimes, dirt or debris can accumulate around the buttons, affecting their functionality. Clean the buttons on the right side using a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild cleaning solution. Ensure that the buttons are completely dry before attempting to program them again. 4. Firmware or Software Update: Check if there are any available firmware or software updates for your Rancilio Classe 7 espresso machine. Manufacturers occasionally release updates to address issues and improve functionality. Visit the Rancilio website or contact their customer support to inquire about any available updates for your specific model.

5. Contact Rancilio Support: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it would be advisable to reach out to Rancilio's customer support directly. They will have detailed knowledge about your machine model and can provide specific troubleshooting steps or further assistance to resolve the programming issue with the right-side buttons. Remember to refer to the user manual for your Rancilio Classe 7 espresso machine for any specific instructions on programming the buttons.

How do you reset the thermostats on the rancilio?

Safety thermostat for rancilio silvia is on the boiler and has a red button on top.Press this button down and you should be ok.
Other thermostats cannot be reset - just replaced.

If the boiler temperature exceeds 165 degrees Celsius, this thermostat will trip, cutting power off from the element. This is done to try to prevent element damage due to overheating.

Descaling rancilio

Use Citric Acid.

  1. Dissolve about one tablespoon of citric acid in the water reservoir.
  2. Fill the boiler completely. Open the steam valve and start a hot water cycle until water comes out the steam vent. Stop the hot water cycle, close the vent.
  3. Let the boiler heat up about 5 minutes. Then turn off the power.
  4. Let the acid solution work for about 1/2 hour.
  5. Pull a 30 second shot to change the water in the boiler.
  6. Repeat flushing cycles (steps 3, 4, & 5) until the water looks clear. Refill the reservoir with water and acid as needed.
  7. Wash out the water reservoir.
  8. Pull 5 or shots to get the acidic water out of the boiler. Run a hot water cycle to clean the acidic water out of the steam vent.
  9. Let the unit come to temperature and look for leaks.
  10. Make some coffee and look for leaks.
  11. Froth some milk and look for leaks.

We've had the Rancilio Audrey now for a year and still not have had a perfect cappucino. 1. Milk. We use 3.5 dairy milk, cold before going under spout. 2. What is the middle (steam) button used for? ...

  1. That is the right milk. Use a thermometer with the milk.
  2. The middle button is used for steam. It engages the high themostat for steam.
    1. Slightly open the steam valve
    2. Turn on the middle button
    3. Keep the end of the steam wand slightly above the milk surface (0.5 mm) so the steam incorporates air into the milk. (Takes practice)
    4. Open the steam valve as the boiler heats up. (Takes practice)
    5. When the milk get to 74 C (165 F) immerse the steam wand into the milk and heat to 82 C (185 F)
    6. Turn off the middle button and shut the valve.
  3. For 90 ml of coffee, use 14 gram of ground coffee. The coffee scoop that came with the machine holds 7 grams of ground coffee as it comes out of a grinder (not packed). Tamp the coffee after it is in the sieve.

What's up with the filter gasket, have to replace every year

Hi
Sorry but that is the way it is with the good machines. If it is left on 24/7 it needs to be changed every 6 months. They get hard because of the heat. Buy a couple and keep 1 on hand.

I was just given a rancilio audrey and a matching rancilio grinder. However no water is coming through the group heaed, just steam. I can't make coffee! The pump hums quietly and sounds like it is running...

Remove the shower screen and screw from the head, make sure screen is clean and run head without screen in place, if you get a good flow, problem on screen, if not then problem is on the inside of the machine between top of the head and pump. You can try descaling the machine.

Leaking steam valve rancilio miss audrey

you should take out the knob first, than you try to disasembke the SHAFT of valve from the valve body, in this types(small espresso coffe machines) usualy producer use conical valve, without seals she close metal to metal, when you get out the SHAFT you will see one line on the conical end. for repairing it will be enough to visit one metal vorkery where they will take a small amount of brass from end and polish it. then you put it back and work again with your machine.

ps: notice you only polish the SHAFT , dont let them to short the more than 0.5 mm
