Problem
Why is CL ( or C ) flashing in the base message window?
Solution(s)
This indicates that you need to set the time and day on your answering system. During initial setup and any time there is a loss of power to the base, you will see this flashing indicator. Consult your User's Manual for instructions on setting the day and time. Manuals for most models can found on this site. Go to our MANUALS section, then search for your particular model.
Your time needs set on your answering machine. If you have buttons on the top of your base, press and hold the day / check button to set the day of the week. Press and hold the hour button to set the hour. Press and hold the min button to set the min. If you don't have buttons on base, press flash button on handset to enter answerer remote mode. Press the 8 key to enter time set menu. Set hour and min using number buttons and set am/pm using caller id buttons. Press # pause to confirm the setting.

If you had a power failure the memory may have been affected.

My phone was also flashing CL and the 0, after a power outage. After I set the date and time it was fixed. Press the flash button on the handset and use the caller ID buttons to set AM or PM; use the numbers to input the correct time. Then press #. Repeat for setting the day and press # again.
