If it is under warranty, get it replaced. The firmware is corrupted and unless the computer recognises it, you can't restore the firmware. If you can get it to come up to the maintenance menu you may be able to reset the player.
This sounds like it might be a hard drive problem. To put it into Recovery Mode, do this: put a
paperclip in the
Reset hole while holding the power button in the On position. Then
release the
paperclip and continue to hold the power button until it goes to the
Recovery
Mode screen. You should at this point try Format and Scan Disk/Cleanup,
then
Reboot. If it still gets stuck at the same spot, then its going to be a
hardware failure.
