Thanks very much for this reply, my husband had a look yesterday and it was the element so we have ordered one from hotpoint to fix ourselves, it looks really easy to do.
Thank you.

My oven made a popping noise now won't heat up - the fan still works and the top oven does too it's just the main one. I'm presuming from reading the last post that it's blown the element. Mine is a DD77 and i think it's accessible from inside a back panel within the oven to save me removing it completely from the built in housing. My oven made a popping noise now won't heat up - the fan still works and the top oven does too it's just the main one. I have a similar problem. Hotpoint DD77 double oven. Top oven is fine, but the main oven wont get hot, although the fan and light come on. Whether it was pure coincidence but my lights/sockets fused. I reset the trip, it was then I noticed my oven was not getting hot. Should I purchase an element, thermostat or both? Thanks Fran

If the fan is still working and the oven isn't getting hot, it will be the element, I replaced mine last week on an EW83, it was one screw and two wires, Very easy fix

Usually with ovens not heating up the element has gone and needs replacing. A few checks to do before going to the expense and trouble of replacing are to check the House Power Box Fuses to make sure none a blown - especially look for the one relating to the Oven or Range. If blown replace the fuse wire. If it blows again you have a problem with the power point or appliance. Does the Oven Fan work? If so chances are the oven is getting power as is the element and your house electrical lines to the Oven are fine and the element needs replacing. Not knowing the particular Brand you have amkes it difficult say how to remove the element. Some elements are accessible from inside the oven - others you have to remove the oven and get access from behind by removing a panel. Whatever you do if you do decide to remove the element MAKE SURE you TURN OFF THE POWER to the Oven. Hope this helps.

Is there a black pole sticking out that goes in when you close the door, my Hotpoint freestanding cooker has it on the right hand side, once this is pressed in the fan and heat starts, i had to replace it on my cooker as it went faulty and stopped things working (all I had was the main oven light on, these are usually like a little black box that are situated on the side of the oven just behind the main metal panel on the outside and will normally have 2 pull off spade connectors connected to it.
i don't have the same model as you but hopefully this mig help you.
It will be the element that has gone, and it is easy to replace.
Remove the cover at rear of oven compartment, and you will see the fan element, just undo fixing screw, and replace element.
Even though the element look's o/k, it is more than likely faulty, more so if the fan is working o/k.
The only 100% test to make sure if it is faulty, is to test it with a meter.
In my experience I would advise you to replace the element.

Thanks.
You need to detrmine if you are getting a supply to the oven element, if you are , then the new element is faulty, if no supply, then you are going to have to work back from source.

Hello.
If the fan is working, but there is no heat, then it is the fan oven element that needs to be replaced.
It has nothing to do with timer on this occasion.
Remove panel at rear of oven compartment, there you will see the round element.
Undo fixing screws, and remove element, disconnect leads and fit onto new element, refit new elemrnt, replace cover, and job done!!!
Please leave a fixya rating for my solution.
Thankyou
If the display is flashing, it sounds like the timer needs resetting
U need to refer to your instuctions on how to do this..
If it does it again once u have reset it, then I suspect that the oven element has blown..
Pls leave feedback.
Thanks.
