Problem was a stuck float in the small water reservoir to the rear left of the unit.. Remove top and left hand side panel. Small reservoir can be seen at the bottom left. Remove small screw and slide off the cable assembly above. You should then see into the reservoir and the float. Clean float and reservoir and reassemble.

Thanks graham_norma - this worked perfectly - i removed a second screw to clean the whole reservoir and mine had a soap sized wad of wax as well as wax on the float from the creams and emoillents we use - working fine now - just be careful not to drop any screws as you will end up taling the unit apart to get them back - all-in-all it reminded me again how simple some of these appliances are and how easy they are to fix...and how ludicrous what they charge for them is.

Empty water light, empty condenser

I experienced the problem with a hotpoint TCYM 750, with the red empty water light failing to switch off. After removing the filter and cleaning it, cleaning the condenser and drying anywhere I had access to the machine still didn't heat and the light remained on. Reading the post about the machine having 3 reservoirs it struck me that one of the reservoirs may be hard to access. So I unplugged the machine and tipped it onto its front. The reservoir drained, I pushed the machine back upright and cleared up some water around the condenser. The drier now works properly and the empty water light is off - job done!

Water is leaking out from under the water reservoir; the water reservoir is not full. The float mechanism is positioned properly. Also, coils seem to be frozen and I cannot remove the filter tray from...

The water leaking out from under the unit, indicates that the drain line to the water reservoir is clogged. Turn the unit OFF and unplug is from the outlet. Allow the unit to completely thaw, before attempting to service it. Once unplugged, you may want to put some towels under it, to absorb the water dripping,

Once the unit is completely thawed, remove the water bucket and empty it, if necessary. Look for a tube or hole near the top of the cavity, that the bucket sits in. Using an 18" to 20" long plastic Zip Tie (or something similar. NO wire cost hangers, though) that will fit into the tube or hole, carefully insert it and continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tuber. This is the tricky part, as you need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend. Once you do, continue to insert the Zip Tie, until it bottoms out or you have reached it's maximum length. Slowly remove the Zip Tie while rotating it. This will dislodge any clogs. Once you have almost removed the Zip Tie, be prepared for some water to follow.

Clean the filter and wipe down the entire unit. Plug it back in, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set your controls as you normally do.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

Unit wont run but lights up. It reads low humidity even though its high

Hello,

First, make sure the reservoir is empty. If you plug the unit in and see a green power light, but the unit won't run, make sure the reservoir is properly inserted. Many dehumidifiers have switches or sensors to make sure that the reservoir is placed so that it won't leak. Look for these sensors and make sure the reservoir is engaging them. If your dehumidifier has a float or switch to indicate a full reservoir, make sure this switch isn't being tripped accidentally.

Good luck.

When I pour water into (empty) pot to fill. Bunn coffee maker

If you pour water into the machine, and water comes out, then the reservoir is full of water. There is no way the water can bypass the reservoir and go directly into the pot.

Tumble dryer not working

Spoke to my maintenance engineer at work and he said that most of these appliances work by using float switches. After stripping down and drying out the previous day decided to refill reservoir with water and letting drain back in refilled again 15 mins later till no more water could go back in. Then emptied water reservoir and let the water drain back out into reservoir. Think this must have dislodged the float switch and all seems back to normal.
