I have been having the F1 & F51 error on my Kenmore Elite Oasis HE washer since for the past 6 months. I have to repeatedly press stop and start for the machine to work. Then go back just before the rinse and press stop and start until it works again. I see that many others have the same issue.

You hav to first check whether something is stuck in-between
your outer and inner drum. Un-plug
first. Is the basket moving smoothly, as
in previous washes? If not, there could
be something stuck, and the F51 reading could be correct - strain on motor.
You have to get in to the top of the washer. There are two
clips that hold the front of the top in place - wedge a putty knife against
these (hard) while pulling up to release the top. The top will then swing up as
a piece. It is easier to undo the clips in the back allowing the whole top to
swing completely back and away (having an extra person helps, you don't want to
put pressure on the wiring harness between the base and the top). Next you have
to unclip the cover all around the edges (lifting the tabs) and swing it back.
Take a flashlight and inspect carefully the gap between and under the drum for
any stray items, and remove them. Reverse the process to re-assemble.
